Lake County State's Attorney Mike Nerheim is a proven leader, living up to all campaign promises, cutting waste and making the State's Attorney's Office a more effective, streamlined and transparent place. Some of Lake County's most notable law, government and community leaders know Mike Nerheim very well. Even before he assumed office, these people knew Mike was the only person who could make the progress needed and bring the change necessary to restore hope, pride and justice to the office of State's Attorney.
When Mike Nerheim first ran for State's Attorney, it was on a platform of fighting crime, protecting victims, the pursuit of Justice, and restoring integrity to the State's Attorney's Office after a challenging period for the county. Gangs and gang violence are plaguing communities across the nation and Lake County is no exception.
In 2011, Mike Nerheim announced his candidacy for Lake County State's Attorney by declaring, "I am running for my family and yours." He continues to focus on family first: his, yours, and ours. The difference is that this time, we know we need him to continue the good work that has brought greater justice, pride and respect for all of Lake County.

As State's Attorney, he oversees an office of 140 attorneys, investigators, victim coordinators, paralegals, and support staff, plus two certified comfort dogs, one electronic detection dog, and a corps of volunteers.
