Restoring hope, one client at a time. As an Iowa disability lawyer, I am driven by that one goal; it has been my personal and professional mission since I first began representing disabled Iowans in 1996. Prior to that, I worked for the Social Security Administration, as one of their attorneys, I have seen first-hand how a large government bureaucracy can frustrate and confuse even the most determined claimant.

Whether you live in a large city like Des Moines, a mid-sized city like Ames, or a smaller community like Pella, most people seeking Social Security disability benefits in Iowa have questions. I created this website to help provide you answers. I hope you find the information to be helpful. How does the Social Security Administration decide if I am "disabled" and entitled to receive Iowa disability benefits?.
Services
After graduating law school in 1989, I began my career as a lawyer working for the Social Security Administration in its Office of the General Counsel. I did my job well and learned volumes about the workings of Social Security Administration, however, I went to law school to help people who could not help themselves - the poor, the disadvantaged, those at the end of their rope.
Candor is important. Explain exactly what the problem is. Is it insufficient communication? Lack of progress on your claim? A personality conflict? Give your attorney the opportunity to explain and offer a remedy before deciding to discontinue representation. Before you contact a new Social Security disability attorney, you should obtain in writing an end to the representation agreement you signed earlier.
Likelihood of success. If (a) your physical or mental disability is severe, (b) your condition limits your activities of daily living, (c) your medical impairment will last or has lasted longer than 12 months, and (d) your doctor agrees with this assessment, you should apply for Social Security disability.
We regularly talk to Social Security disability claimants who are discouraged by the denial of their applications. They should not feel bad, for 65% of initial applications are denied. However, the majority of claimants who appeal will ultimately be found disabled, so if you feel you cannot work you should appeal.
An Iowa Disability Lawyer's Advice for Testifying at Your Social Security Disability Benefits Hearing. Whether you live in Ames, West Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, Council Bluffs, Waterloo or any point in between, most applicants for Iowa disability benefits will have to testify at a hearing before an Administrative Law Judge.

Mr. Tripp helped me during my SSDI initial application and receives my highest recommendation! He is a talented attorney who understands every step of this process. He is straight forward and extremely clear in his explanations which is an asset during this confusing process. During my horrific diagnosis which resulted in changes to every aspect of my life, he took control and let me focus on fighting to live rather than fighting to apply! His entire office treats you as if you are a member of their own family.

When I filed for SS disability on my own, my claim was flatly denied, but the 2nd time, with Tim handling it, it went through smoothly and quickly. He was so well-organized and thorough, and presented my case so well, that the hearing was basically a formality. Thank you Tim Tripp!

I received the best advice and service. Not only was my case handled with care as if I were family, but his whole office and staff treated me as family. They kept me well informed and I knew every process thanks to them. I am truly grateful and thankful to all of them because it was a team effort and I was included in that team. Extremely professional but I didn’t feel like just another case I felt their empathy and again I’m extremely thankful. I highly recommend them and I will continue to praise their work ethic and practice!
Thank you so much!!!

Tim Tripp is every bit is good as he says he his, in fact he's even better than that! I only wish I would have found him sooner. I had spent several months struggling through the process on my own. Tim came along and in his very assured and straight forward, honest way he put me at ease. That is saying something because I was having tremendous anxiety. Him and his team handled all the paperwork and advised me on things I needed to do, so I didn't feel alone anymore. I interned with a law office and worked with hundreds of attorneys at my old job, so I have a lot of experience working with lawyers
