This is a Raleigh area institution.
Price is typical of high end steak house, but the atmosphere is laid back and relaxing. Best described as rustic. The steaks are excellent, service is great. Long list of wine.
The trick for good experience is to communicate your preferences, likes and dislikes, the servers and the restaurant are accommodating and will guide you.

Wow, I finally got to experience angus barn around Christmas time and they truly put so much effort into decorating the entire place. The parking lot has so many lights, the ceilings are layered with ornaments and nut crackers everywhere. It is truly a sight to behold and I definitely recommend making your reservations now for next year.
Now you want to know about the food of course.
I got the cowboy special which was a 22 oz bone in rib-eye with goat cheese and mushrooms on the side. I don't really like mushrooms but oh my gosh. Get the sautéed mushrooms on the side if your meal. My steak

What else to say about this establishment that hasn’t already been said. It’s fantastic! If you have the chance to visit you most definitely should!
Before coming make sure to make a reservation day of or before even. It is quite popular. Arguably the best steak in NC.
Every time you visit, you can sit in a different location and explore the vastness of this restaurant. It’s gorgeous!

After an off year last year, we decided to return to the Angus Barn to see if this year would be better than last year. We had a much better experience. It wasn't as busy during the afternoon and we were seated away from other tables.
More importantly, the service was much better. Our waitress (Kimberly F) was phenomenal and very attentive. She could answer our questions about the menu as well. I don't think one of our beverages glasses made it to half full. The holiday decor added to the ambience.

Great time visiting Angus barn! Super busy during the holidays, if you don't have a reservation the wait time is long especially on the weekends! You can book a reservation a year ahead of time exactly to date. And yes reservations do fill up fast for next year. They have cheese and crackers while you wait for your table. I think since covid they have expanded their waiting lounge area. Also they have gingerbread cookies during the holidays, so good. They also have a full bar you can order drinks from while you wait for your table. Very nice staff! We waited 2 hours for a table since we did

Searched for Pecan Pie and Angus Barn came up. Stopped by for dinner and realized that reservations are booking two months out and there was a 3 hr wait for a table. The place was gorgeous and beautifully decorated for Christmas. We came back the next day and had our names out and and got seated in the Meat Locker, which is a cute section out back with a fire pit, outdoor and indoor seating. And a huge bonus is you can buy and smoke cigars with dinner. We had the 5 ounce coffee rubbed filet and it was perfectly cooked. Charred on the outside and pink and juicy in the middle.

The decorations for Christmas are absolutely beautiful! The whole place is so festive and there is a huge Christmas tree outside that is so pretty. The complimentary gingerbread cookies are delicious. I expected more from their cocktail drinks, they just seemed more like generic overpriced drinks but the food was amazing and I absolutely loved their Chocolate Chess Pie with Ice Cream. Highly recommend going for the holidays!

We had a great time celebrating mom's birthday and wife finishing Master's degree! Great seeing all the Christmas decorations and my daughters smiles. So much food!! It was very good and our service was top notch! We did have reservations for many many months. More than I am normally spending, but worth every bit of this occasion!

I have been several times over the years but had not been for 10 years which was my wife's first and only time. We went with her best friend and had an amazing time. The outside is decorated but the inside is even more impressive. I can't even imagine how long it takes them to decorate it. Our waiter was amazing. She was funny, engaging, and provided excellent service. Our food was delicious and well prepared. We will definitely be back and plan to make this an annual Christmas event.

We love Angus Barn! Surprised we were able to find a reservation for this time of year. First time checking out during Christmas time and highly suggest it. We got there early to enjoy the decor and got hot cider and a glass of wine. Dinner our go to is the French onion soup, raviolis, and love sharing the tomahawk steak. Only complaint was it was very hot inside while eating, even the staff said the same. Made it difficult to enjoy the end of our meal and skipped dessert.

If you're willing to pay for the exceptional, then this is a must. Very pricey, but great experience; from the welcoming staff, to the extensive wine list, to the next-level waitstaff, to the amazing historic atmosphere, to the decadent pleasure of a quality cigar right after dinner. You're paying for quality, but quality it certainly is.

I dined here to enjoy the game and the food. They have an indoor cigar lounge in the back so we opted for that area.
The food and service was pretty fast and I was not expecting the large portions of food. Literally everything we had was appetizers; the crispy calamari, the cheese plate with a variety of cheese, crackers, olives and pickles, and the meatballs. All were very tasty. I tried their signature cocktails as well.
The indoor smoking area has heating and super large opened windows so bundle up if you're dining in during the winter.

An absolute favorite of mine - nothing better than having a long week then taking the family out for dinner at AB!! Sweet environment that never gets old BECAUSE they are constantly updating the decorations :) They get super busy during the holidays, book months in advance. The country store has a great selection for anyone on your gift giving list, and the bar upstairs is nice when you want a break from the norm - they have a live piano player during the weekends.

Wow. Excellent in every way. From valet parking to greetings and seating, to the serve, and the absolutely outstanding food (we had filet combos: one with shrimp and lobster, the other with mouthwatering ribs), to the drinks (highly recommend Julep No. 10 Cocktail), to the desserts (again, recommend their award-winning chocolate chess pie), to the ambience and of course, the decorations inside and out. It's no surprise this is one of the most highly rated restaurants in the Triangle - and booked far in advance. I'm mad at myself for not making reservations for the holidays - I should have done

Loved this steakhouse! I went twice in two nights.
Be prepared to wait if you arrive after 5p. Esp. on the weekend. We got there at 7 on Friday and waited two hours.
Now, it was an easy wait on their patio with drinks in hand, but a wait none the less.
Delicious food. Well prepared with exactly the temperatures that we ordered. They have a good wait staff that knows the menu very well.
Great option if you are visiting. If you are local and haven't tried it, shame on you!

Such an awesome experience! Absolutely love this restaurant, everything was incredible from the service, to the food, to the overall restaurant affair. This place is an absolute must if you are in Raleigh/Durham, worth driving to also if your near by. They start you off with a tray of olives, pickles and celery. Than they bring some amazing bread and crackers paired with some cheese spreads. The menu offers a great selection of premium steaks and all meals come with two sides. But save room for dessert!!! They have several house made desserts but the signature chocolate chess pie is out of this

An amazing birthday experience. The decor is wonderful and all the staff are very helpful, patient, and kind. We went for my birthday and the dinner was perfect, the sirloin and lobster tail were mouth watering. (Great portions for what you pay!!!) The only issue is that my husband was served the incorrect salad but it wasn't anything to gripe about. To my surprise I was gifted a birthday pound cake after our dinner and my husband was gifted a bottle of wine for his military service. The experience was great and we will be dining at the Angus Barn again.

While it seems a little silly at this point to post yet another review of the Angus Barn, just for the memories, here goes.
Enormous place. Valet park if it looks like you'll be banished to distant parking lots. Of course you planned ahead and made a reservation; otherwise the wait will be long, and even the reservations fill up quickly (in mid-September, there's already almost nothing available between Thanksgiving and Christmas.)
Adorable rustic charm everywhere. Wait staff that have been around forever and really understand customer service.

And, the fun continues.........Birthday dinner at The Angus Barn! Have never been here before but what an incredible place. As you walk in, you are greeted by not one reception area but 3!!! Each one more welcoming than the one before! We walked into what seemed like a Christmas wonderland with all the sparkling lights and decor! The place is visually stimulating with its gun walls, celebrity walls, and cigar humidor within viewing pleasure!

I haven't been here for 28 years. We came without a reservation (but reservations are highly recommended). At 6p on a Monday we were sat at the last free table in the Wild Turkey Lounge, a section dedicated to walk-ins.
The decor is 61 years old and is a well maintained vintage-rustic vibe.
The food is very pricey, but is perfectly prepared. The amazing hospitality style service is very refreshing. The $46 -14oz porcini encrusted ribeye (comes with a side) is the most cost efficient red meat option. I highly recommend it.

This is our go-to spot for when we get to sneak out for a dinner date. As busy parents we don't risk even giving other steakhouses a try because we don't want to be disappointed so this is our favorite spot! I've also taken my family in larger groups to celebrate the holidays here as well --I love the Christmas decor! I highly recommend go always make reservations, a few days in advance if possible. It is always crowded even on weekdays.
