We are currently allowing one client in the room during appointments for pets scheduled with Doctors. Appointments that are scheduled with a Technician, or medication, food, and pet pickups, are still being conducted in a "Curbside" manner. Upon arrival to our clinic, we ask that you call us to check in and to remain in your vehicle until it is time for your pets appointment.

Durango Animal Hospital is proud to serve the Durango CO area for everything pet related. Our veterinary clinic and animal hospital is run by Dr. Douglas Eckert, who is a licensed, experienced Durango veterinarian. Our team is committed to educating our clients in how to keep your pets healthy year round, with good nutrition and exercise.
At Durango Animal Hospital, we have 3 veterinarians on staff. Collectively they have over 60 years of experience between them. We see a variety of animals, including dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, small mammals and rodents. We are also part of the Durango Wildlife Rehabilitation Center and assist with injured wildlife on a routine basis.
Our appointment book is computerized which allows us to efficiently make appointments for you and your pet. Our receptionists and team will attempt to accommodate all requests to the best of our ability. Emergencies are accepted anytime our clinic is open. If you feel you have an emergency with your pet, please call us or come to the hospital immediately.

We have a state of the art veterinary facility which is clean, comfortable, and efficient.
1. Payment is expected when services are rendered. In order to focus on our patients' needs, customer service and minimizing costs, we do not bill. 2. We accept Visa/MasterCard, Discover, American Express, Care Credit, check and cash. All cards must be signed by the owner of the card. 3. When unexpected illness strikes a pet, unexpected expense strikes as well.

I really like the people at this animal shelter. Their prices seem reasonable and they provided us with all of our potential options. Before, we had only gone here for our vaccines and recommendations, but we recently had a health scare with our kitty and they were able to schedule us very quickly and provide advice until we were able to come in.
Best of all they were able to help my cat and she made a full recovery. Would recommend them to anyone in Durango!

We’re new to the area and we were having a difficult time finding a vet. Durango Animal Hospital got us right in. Our fur baby needs a simple surgery, which we were expecting. They wrote up an estimate for the surgery that included optional services that they said we could have done if we wanted but it wasn’t required. I appreciate their honesty in letting us know what services we could do without if we so chose. Most offices just hand you an outrageously priced bill and don’t mention that some charges are optional. The techs and Dr. were very friendly and explained everything. I would highly

Just had the worst experience in attempting to book an appointment. The front desk asked if I had been there before, and I told them I had (because this is where I put my cat down) she asked for my last name. After I gave it to her, she said I didn't exist in their system. Which I explained was odd as I brought my cat there abs she continued to insist that I either had used a different last name (which I've never had) or never had gone to this clinic before. Up to and including that I didn't know what city I was calling. So, rather than move forward with finding out about an appointment

We love the entire team at Durango Animal Hospital. They take wonderful care of our three canines. The staff and docs know exactly how to work with each of our dogs' needs and personalities. We trust them for everything from basic checkups to surgery. They are also incredibly easy to schedule with and a great value.

Everyone at Durango Animal hospital was very nice when I arrived there with my dog for a check up after we had a car accident in which he was in the car .
The front desk , ( especially Carol!) , the vet , were all patient and courteous , the vet was very professional and knowledgeable, took her time with my dog , examined him thoroughly and assured me that he seems fine. They even gave me a courtesy call 48 hours later to check that all is ok with my dog .
Fees are very reasonable !
I highly recommend this facility!

Our 5 year old Springer Spaniel was in great pain and vomiting & Dr. McCaw met us at the hospital in the middle of the night and after an x-ray found out it was a twisted stomach. She & Dr. Rottinghaus performed surgery on him and watched him for the next day. They are our hero's. We are not from Colorado and were desperate for help and they were perfect. They sent us home with food and instructions and he is doing well, when we very nearly lost him it could have been a very sad story but thankfully all is well. Thank you so very much!

My dog became very sick during the night with vomiting, trembling and stomach pains while we were vacationing in Durango. I went to Durango Animal Hospital first thing in the morning and wonderful Carol at the front desk did everything possible to work me into a busy day since I had no appointment. She asked all the right questions and worked me in. During the day, she called me to post me on timing and to see how my dog was doing. They ended up placing my dog in their kennel so Dr. Rottinghaus could see him in between other appointments. I was so worried for him in a strange place but everyone

Solid veterinary services when your animal-friend isn't feeling well!
I've brought my birds here whenever they need treatment and the docs are really nice. The avian vet is always ready to answer questions and explain what's going on which I appreciate greatly. The ladies out front are very friendly and accommodating as well.
On the down side, sometimes the avian vet isn't there and we left a message one night to get an appt the next day and we weren't called back. We ended up just calling the next day to see what was up but it would have been nice to receive a call
