You've been through one (or more) of life's harshest events, and you need to know that people can and do move forward from this kind of pain. They find a place of hope and purpose. If you choose to work with me, we'll talk about your current challenges and how you can make the journey toward resilience, growth, and maybe even leadership.
First and always, I will listen to your goals-whether you want to feel better, help someone else, or change your corner of the world. I will draw from research, from decades of counseling experience, and from my doctorate in leadership to partner with you. My core beliefs are that every person has a unique mission, every life has a unique purpose, and every painful experience can be a starting place for hope.

The slow, excruciating months after a trauma experience of my own left me with an overwhelming desire to create meaning from my pain by developing something precious and useful for others. We've all seen trauma-inspired service in news reports--survivors who rise from life's darkest places to offer light.
Painful experiences leave their mark in unfair ways. If you have experienced trauma or loss, you may feel alone, sad, angry, or anxious. You may have trouble with relationships or work. And you may have tried to escape these feelings, only to find your efforts have caused more problems than they have solved.
Experiencing trauma means being exposed to sexual violence, serious injury, death, or threats. It may be directed toward you, toward someone nearby, or toward someone you love. Hearing about a violent act or serious accident affecting someone close to you is traumatic, even if you were not there. Trauma survivors may experience a wide range of responses, including such distress symptoms as depression, insomnia, anxiety, and irritability.
People who suffer loss or trauma often find their emotions and relationships change in ways that make life feel even worse. These changes may be normal responses, but dealing with them can be overwhelming. A professional counselor can help you understand your responses from a fresh, more hopeful perspective.
