Services
Glenwood Life Counseling Center is a non profit, urban Medication Assisted Treatment program providing therapy, education, medication, case management, and recovery services to approximately 700 clients and their families annually. We have been in continuous operation since 1971 and are a state of Maryland and CARF-certified ambulatory opioid-agonist treatment program.
Case management services at Glenwood Life Counseling Center are provided by trained people in long term recovery. The Peer Case Managers work alongside the professional staff in order to connect patients and community members with the many services that are available, but often difficult to find. Our Peer Case Managers play a very important role in supporting the recovery of patients at GLCC.
For those suffering from a mental illness such as depression or anxiety in addition to a substance use problem, recovery must also include the assessment and treatment of psychological problems. Trained professionals at Glenwood Life Counseling Center, including a consulting psychiatrist and other licensed mental health practitioners, can help with the assessment, referral and in many cases, the treatment of mental health issues.
Addiction and mental illness can be isolating and lonely diseases. Even in recovery, the process of establishing and maintaining meaningful relationships can be difficult. Group treatment at Glenwood Life Counseling Center can offer the support, camaraderie, knowledge, and wisdom of others who have also "walked the walk".
Glenwood Life provides expert one on one counseling. Each patient at GLCC is assigned a primary counselor who is responsible for ensuring that you have the counseling, support, and resources necessary for your recovery. Although medication will help with your physical withdrawal symptoms, counseling is where you will learn how to make changes in your life that will move you to recovery.

Dr. Powell is the new head after the previous one retired and she's absolutely horrible!!! She took an oath to protect and care for her clients and she could absolutely care less. Glenwood Life used to be a safe haven. A place that cared about the patient and was a family atmosphere and now I wouldn't recommend that anyone goes there as long as Powell is in charge of writing the scripts! I feel sorry for the director because she's always been a fair woman and always stood up for what's RIGHT BUT with someone like Dr.Powell working there I just can NOT give a 5 star recommendation! Very relaxed atmosphere. The kind of place that you want to spend time at. So many different activities and incentives offered. Many classes from AIDS and Non-smoking to Jewelry making and painting. There is even an on site daycare and secure outdoor playground. This place changed my life for the better half of six to seven years.

Wonderful caring Doctor, the best. Staff members are uncaring for some who are independent thinkers, even being clean is for 15 years, and having several life changing events, no compassion, no counseling to help. Would not recommend this Clinic to my worst enemy. Also staff member that handles fees treats clients like you are beneath her. If you have insurance and just want to drink 240 milligrams and be dirty every week this is the place for you
