Our program hosts medical students from MUSC and other medical schools across the country. Our program has a large patient base and busy regional medical center, but enjoys a small town feel. The Montgomery Center for Family Medicine is located on the main campus of Self Regional Medical Center.

The Self Regional Healthcare Family Medicine Residency Program in Greenwood, S.C. is a community based program focusing on developing quality family physicians while providing outstanding patient care. All faculty members are board certified in their specialty and hold faculty appointments at the Medical University of South Carolina.
The Self Regional Healthcare Family Medicine Residency Program is unique in its support of international medical missions. Stipends are available to residents interested in serving some of the most impoverished places on Earth. The residents will be trained to assess the needs of a community, take a leadership role in developing medical outreach, and to provide best practice medical care within a community clinic framework.
Residents have the opportunity to moonlight performing preparticipation sports physicals for area schools. Moonlighting by second- and third-year residents is offered but not required. An exclusive moonlighting contract has been established with the Self Regional Healthcare Emergency Care Center which provides valuable experience in orthopedic, minor trauma, and acute medical and pediatric care.
A residency program is a living, dynamic set of relationships. It is anything but static or predictable. And yet through the enduring commitment of faculty members and the vision of program leaders, we have seen excellent results with consistency over the years.

Julie and I have four children and are both Indiana natives. We have enjoyed living in South Carolina for the past 25 years. We enjoy water sports, running, mountain biking, golf, fishing, gardening, college sports (especially Clemson football) and snow skiing. Greenwood is perfect for year-round outdoor fun.
