Recognizing the national trend toward a Center of Excellence approach for complex health problems, South Carolina Spine Center was created by Self Regional Hospital to improve the way we care for back and neck pain. South Carolina Spine Center emphasizes non-surgical treatment options in advance of spine surgery.
If spine surgery is needed, we have two fellowship-trained neurospine surgeons - the highest level of medical education possible. Minimally invasive spine surgery techniques enable many patients to go home the same day to recover in their own home. We have in one location spine surgeons, non-surgical spine specialists, spine therapists, exercise gym, pool, x-rays, MRI, injection suite and the most advanced operating room environment.

Services
Residents across South Carolina or North Carolina who suffer from an attack of back or neck pain often travel to many cities and clinics in their quest for relief of pain symptoms. Along the way, they can receive treatments, diagnostic studies, contradictory advice and treatment that is often way too aggressive for the symptoms they display.
South Carolina Spine Center physician offices are located at 115 Academy Avenue Unit A, Greenwood, SC. If you are experiencing life-threatening symptoms please call 911 and seek Emergency care immediately. If you are experiencing a moderate increase in symptoms, please call our office immediately so we can evaluate whether you will need to come in to the office to be seen by one of the physicians.
Dr. Norman Ouzts, a local chiropractor from Greenwood, ruptured a disc in his neck while administering a maneuver on a patient. After a few days, Dr. Ouzts began to notice pain in his shoulder blade that then progressed down his arm. The pain was so severe that he was no longer able to see patients and struggled to even sign his name.
South Carolina Spine Center uses written protocols that emphasize non-surgical treatment options in advance of spine surgery. The Prizm spine outcomes system is the only spine outcomes system that measures and tracks a variety of metrics that document the severity of the patient entering the spine center and compares that to the results after treatment.
Within healthcare, the race is on to collect outcomes statistics that may reveal to patients, health insurance companies and employers which physicians and hospitals provide the best quality healthcare. Easier said than done. In the automotive industry the most recognized study of car quality is the JD Powers annual study that reveals customer satisfaction and customer-reported defects per 100 cars.

I recently moved back to greenwood. Needed a Dr for my back and neck. I had been under Dr. Scott care in Spartanburg. He sent me for injections. I have a phobia of Needles. I still was in so much pain that they gave me a mild sedative and would perform my injections. The specialist in Spartanburg said there was nothing else he could do bc the injections did not help. Since then I have been living in constant pain. I reached out to Dr. Boeller and he did an injection without sedating me. I had an anxiety attack and they just watched. Didnt try to comfort me or help. Now he wanna put a block in without

The people I spoke with were very kind and polite! The Spine Institute was highly recommended so I was looking for a second opinion. Just be aware that if you have had surgery in the last year they will not even consider you as a patient. As a local Nurse Practitioner I find this very disconcerting that I could not even get an appointment after the referral coordinator presented my information to the surgeon. Mind you the issue I needed to be seen for was for a completely different level of the spine and not even the same side as a previous surgery. I can't imagine the surgeons I work with declining

I gave them 1 star because I didn't have the option of no ★. I have dealt with a lot of Dr. offices but have never dealt with one like this one. You have to leave a message if you need an appointment and someone will supposedly call you with 24-72 hours. It has been 168 hours and no one has returned my call! I called them 3 times, 72 hours between calls and no one could find the time to return my call, really!! Would not recommend this office to anyone. If you need an orthopedic Dr. call Piedmont Orthopedic in Greenville you can actually speak to a real person and get an appointment on the spot

If people say these folks are rude I’ve never had it. I have dealt with them 6 months after a lumbar fusion surgery and dr all is awesome and his staff is great. Who doesn’t get a little snippy dealing with lots of rude people in person I’ve seen how the general public is first hand in the office. Good folks and a great experience I was almost paralyzed and now walk. Yes I have difficulty but it’s better than before
