At San Diego Cooperative Preschool, we believe play is the foundation for happiness, development, and growth. We provide the highest quality care while creating a nurturing and supportive community of children, parents, and highly skilled teachers and staff. Our model of community sustains and enriches our children throughout their lives.
We seek to enrich every child's experience and to empower each child to joyfully develop at their own rate. As a cooperative, each family plays an active role in their child's experience. Parents volunteer in the classroom twice per month and participate in community activities and fundraising programs to benefit our school.

Services
Founded in 1963, San Diego Cooperative Preschool is committed to a child-centered approach to play-based learning-providing indoor and outdoor free play areas with hands-on activities designed to spark imaginations, encourage independence, and nurture kindness. We see children as unique individuals and respect and respond to their individual needs.
San Diego Cooperative Preschool offers nurturing learning environments for children aged 6 weeks through 5 years old. Our indoor/outdoor classrooms spark imagination with curriculum that is designed to enrich the whole child, including social, emotional, physical, cognitive and creative development.
All classrooms are five days a week, Monday through Friday, with the option of different time slots: half day, 3/4 day, and full day. The infant class is full day only. We have an open door policy: families can drop off their child anytime throughout the morning and pick them up anytime on or before their designated pick up time.

Both of our children have attended UCP. It's a warm, caring environment where we have always felt a real part of the community. I can't speak highly enough of the dedicated teachers and highly knowledgeable director. UCP is a really special place and I am very glad that we found it.
If you're looking for a preschool that is more than just a place to send your kids, this is the place. We have learned a TON of parenting techniques both through classes offered by UCP and by watching the teachers work as we have co-opped. Check it out - you'll be happy you did!

Our son attended UCP for four years and it was an incredible experience for him. It was also amazing for us as parents since this was our first child. The co-op experience helped make us better parents and gave us such invaluable communication skills in ways that children respond. The teachers and staff were such helpful resources for information about child development throughout the years. Our son is now in Kindergarten and he is so well prepared (although as parents we were sad to leave UCP!) When I told our son I was writing a review, he asked me to write: "UCP's a super good preschool!" I
