Greenlawn Memorial Park was the vision of Ed Helm (1891-1952). Having already established Bakersfield Monument Company in 1927, he witnessed a rapidly growing Bakersfield and knew that the time would come when additional interment property would be needed. To that end, Greenlawn Memorial Park was established in 1931, and in 1934, the planning process began for Greenlawn Mortuary.

In 1941 Ed himself turned the first shovelful of earth for what would become the location of the chapel. Greenlawn president, Jim La Mar, shares a message of hope and perspective as we move through the difficult times we face. From a Friend of the Family. We are now offering a service called Hugs From Home that will give those not attending a funeral service the chance to still share their words of love and support.

Is there a way to give a negative star? They lost my cousins personal items for days. Due to the traumatic and abrupt accident we had to rely on insurance coverage. We were told that we would pay a small fee and they would contact the insurance, in which the consent was signed immediately. The Friday before his funeral(which is Tuesday) they called demanding payment or they are canceling services. The manager told the father of his 29 year old son that he would not discuss financing, his father said he would make sure to cover any expenses the manager said “ we will see about that”.

Greenlawn Northeast was our choice for my Dad,living and growing up near by. Even though his resting place is the National Cemetery in Arvin,Kimbria and staff at Greenlawn were outstanding in guiding us through our difficult time.I could not have asked for anything better from them for my Dad,
May God Bless them✝️♥️

Greenlawn is a good cemetery and mortuary. I buried my son there 25 years ago and my mother 6 years ago. I've been dealing with them for 25 years. The cemetery is a little small But it serves the community. The grounds are always well maintained and look very nice. Staff are always pleasant and helpful. Management seems to care. So I do recommend Greenlawn.

It seem like there is a funeral here every day. It's nice and quiet considering where it is located. This is probably why people are just dieing to get in here. It's extremely well hidden for being It's size and also being on a busy corner. I'm sure the sound wall from panorama helps out a bit too. It's well maintained and clean.

The staff was very nice, helpful. We had Maria as our, consultant? Idk what they are actually called, but she helped us through the entire process, first with my Dad in January 2020 and recently with my Mom's service in May. My parents had a big chunk of their final expenses covered with their burial policies, which was nice, made things a lot easier for my sister and I financially.

Kept us up to date on the status of our cremation. Were able to pick up the ashes in a timely manner and was an easy process. The location/cemetery where we picked up the ashes was very well kept and was beautiful.

We had a little confusion with my niece's baby's burial. There were issues with the permit so when it came down to the day, all guests were confused on why we were being rushed away if the burial had not taken place. My niece was helped and compensated for the disastrous mess, which was great. the only downside of the cemetery in general is that decorations are not allowed other that for holidays, which is understandable for the argumentation that it is to keep the grounds well maintained; however, it would be appreciated if at least spinners or solar lights were allowed. Hillcrest has a very pleasing
