Photography became an interest of mine while serving in the Air Force in the late 1960's. I worked in a photo interpretation office in the Pacific during the Vietnam War and had the opportunity to spend a lot of time in a darkroom, some of it printing my own photographs. I turned that early experience into a job with a well-known Atlanta studio.
They did everything photographic from portraits and weddings to crime scenes and autopsies. I learned to work in every kind of situation. In 1973, my friend Marianne Carlisle had moved to Newnan and married Billy Thomasson whose family owned the Newnan Times-Herald. They needed a photographer - she called - and 47 years later I am still in Newnan.

A portrait is more than just a picture. It is more than just an image on a screen. Be it a child or a family group, the goal is always the same, to capture a three dimensional person in a two dimensional portrait. To do this takes technical prowess, artistic flair, the love of people and the experience to bring all of these elements together to create a meaningful portrait and to bring a smile to your face.
We have photographed for companies large and small, local and international, for over 30 years. We have a complete array of location lighting equipment and can handle every location photography problem. From on-location business headshots to corporate facilities brochures, there are very few situations we have not photographed before.
We have a unique situation at our downtown Newnan studio. Not only do we have the most well-equipped photography studio in the area, but also our antebellum Major Long House, our garden and the scenic downtown are only steps away. We encourage our seniors to bring props that are unique to them. Sports uniforms, band instruments, pets and cars are the most popular.

My parents and many others talked very highly of Bob Shapiro and his work so we decided to schedule my formal senior portraits for today. we scheduled earlier this week and Shapiro even texted my dad to confirm for the correct day and time. once we got to his studio, we knocked and got no answer. the doors were locked, lights were off, and there was even mail in the door. we called multiple times and left a few messages. after almost 30 minutes, we left. i understand that things come up, but this was completely unprofessional. i really like his work and he seems like a nice guy, but just wanted

During my life I have done business with many photographers, most of them have been ok. Bob Shapiro is the exception, he is great. My first seating with him was in the early 80's. Since then my family and I have near 30 seating with him. Every one was the same in one way, they are great photos that I am proud to display. When there is an event that you want to remember or need a photo for something important, I would recommend you use Bob Shapiro.

Let's start with this fact: I am not photogenic. You know those folks who never take a bad photo? I am the opposite. I don't like being photographed, and I rarely like the results. Bob is the only photographer I'm comfortable having take my portrait.
I had my first sitting with him 35 years ago. He has done personal portraits inside, outside, and in studio. He's done professional head shots for me and will again.
If you want cheap, go to a studio at the mall. If you want photos you will be happy with decades from now, go to Bob.

When I was a senior a lot of my friends had gone to Mr. Shapiro so I decided to as well without doing much research. I regret that dearly. While Mr. Shapiro is a great photographer you can tell he has done too many senior portraits. He was hardly interested in our shoot and I felt like it was nothing special. And the prices are RIDICULOUS. I hardly have any pictures because I was only able to pick 2 with our price range. You also had to pay major dollars to get digital copies. I definitely suggest finding a photographer who is creative, less expensive, and actually gives you pictures.
