With the exception of the above quote - life doesn't come with an instruction book. We all struggle, wonder, and simply do our best to make sense of life's many curve balls. As a licensed psychotherapist, I work primarily with adults suffering from High-Functioning Anxiety & Depression, recovering from Addiction, Childhood Emotional Neglect (CEN) and/or Narcissistic Abuse.
I also work with individuals and couples working through Relationship Challenges and those who identify as Highly-Creative or work in Professions that require high levels of Flexible Thinking. It is not uncommon that traits exhibited by creative folks are often pathologized. I strive to help those divergent thinkers stop marginalizing their gifts and, instead, learn to embrace them.

Currently one in ten Americans have a substance abuse problem. That's approximately 32 million people. No one ever plans to get addicted. Reasons people begin using mood altering substances in the first place range from curiosity to a desire to alleviate stress, anxiety or depression. Genetics are also a strong factor.
Some of the main factors that contribute to overall levels of happiness, or as some psychologists and researchers call it subjective well-being, include staying physically active, remaining curious, having meaningful pursuits, cultivating mindfulness (deliberately paying attention to what you're sensing and feeling), remaining grateful, and having people in your life to whom you feel deeply connected.
