Shotokan Karate Center Coral Springs JKA is a nonprofit Shotokan karate dojo for adults and kids of all ages and abilities. We are a classical Japanese JKA karate school based out of Coral Springs, Florida, proudly serving the Coral Springs and Parkland neighborhoods and surrounding communities of Boca Raton, Deerfield Beach, Coconut Creek, Pompano Beach, Weston, Davie and Fort Lauderdale for over 20 years.
My son went for his first lesson and really enjoyed it. The instructors are patient and really care about their students learning the proper techniques. I am excited for him to continue to learn Shotokan Karate here!

In 1966, Master Takashina graduated from Ryukoku University in Kyoto, Japan, and then was accepted into the elite and rigorous JKA Instructor School, graduating in 1968. He then moved from Japan to Florida in 1972 and began teaching JKA-style Shotokan Karate to the public, first from the University of Miami, and then since 1997 from the main Coral Springs dojo.
Simply put, Shotokan Karate is a martial art with a repertoire of stances, blocks, and strikes that, when performed in a class environment, provide a great workout for Karateka (people who study karate). Founded by Gichin Funakoshi, Shotokan is the quintessential Japanese martial art and is studied around the world under several organizations.

I’ve been training in this Dojo for a couple of months and as someone who comes from a serious shotokan background if you love the principle and discipline of the martial art this place is for you. The senseis are great and knowledgeable and always willing to work with you and help you grow. I would recommend this place to anyone who is new to shotokan or has experience.

This is definitely the best Shotokan karate dojo in Coral Springs and vicinities. I am very fortunate of having practiced and learned my karate from amazing instructors at Shotokan and Ryoubu-Kai dojos in other countries. Once I visited Shotokan Karate Center Coral Springs JKA, I immediately perceived the lineage and technical level of the instructors and students here. And there is a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Very happy to be here!

Love their Saturday and Zoom classes. Nice that they are doing this out of their free will (as long as you’re a member of the JKA). They are very patient, especially with me practicing in my room with limited space and almost hitting the book shelf. No take my do lol. :)
