Motor vehicle accidents on Texas highways pose a serious problem. As traffic intensifies across our interstate system due to urban sprawl, it comes as no surprise that the number of accidents involving cars and, trucks and motorcycles have also grown. These trucks may come from Mexico, Canada, Texas, and other states, and they are carrying heavy loads and traveling at high speeds.
Of all the Texas inter-urban interstates, I-35 between San Antonio and Dallas-Ft. Worth is the busiest, and it typically operates at or above its capacity. More than 50,000 vehicles per day are common along this stretch, with this number increasing during holiday periods. Not only is the increase in large trucks, but the number of passenger vehicles on Interstate 35 is also growing.
