SEIU Healthcare Pennsylvania is the union of caregivers in the Keystone State. We're nurses and healthcare workers in hospitals, nursing homes, and state agencies, and direct caregivers for seniors and people with disabilities in their homes. We advocate for the people we care for, we raise the standards of our caring professions, and we fight to make every healthcare job a good, family supporting job.
Before I became the President of SEIU Healthcare Pennsylvania, I worked as a certified nursing assistant at a nursing home. Together with my fellow union members, I took a stand against short staffing and unfair treatment of workers and residents. I learned from some determined working women that if we all marched together, we could bring about positive changes that no one of us could create alone.

As healthcare workers, we need a strong voice to provide the care our patients, residents, and consumers deserve. Forming a union gives you that voice to improve your job and the care you give. Being a union with my coworkers gives me the confidence to know that I can really advocate for my residents in every way.
Joining together with your coworkers to organize a union is a fundamental right protected by federal law. It is illegal for your employer to intimidate, discriminate, or otherwise interfere in your decision. That said, corporate and management usually opposed employees organizing and forming their union.
You and your coworkers are the union and make the decisions. A union is an organization made up of all our coworkers that uses our strength in numbers to make improvements in the workplace. SEIU Healthcare Pennsylvania is the largest, fastest growing union of healthcare workers in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
