Since the turn of the century, dentistry continues to undergo one of the greatest transformations we have seen. Dr. Michael Zgoba completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Illinois Chicago Campus. He then attended Georgetown University in Washington D.C., where he received his dental degree in 1989. Born and raised in Chicago, he returned to start his practice back in Illinois. He found his dream in Fox River Grove with a family practice that had been providing the community with over thirty years of service.
You already know that maintaining good oral hygiene is important for everyone - but when you're having orthodontic treatment, it's even more critical. Why? Because, while the appliances (such as braces or clear aligners) you may need to wear during treatment are very effective in correcting misaligned teeth, they can also trap food particles easily.
Dentistry is an art as well as a science; dental crowns offer a perfect example of this. A dental crown or "cap" is a covering that fits over a damaged, decayed or unattractive tooth. It can even replace a tooth entirely as part of dental bridgework. A crown completely covers a tooth above the gum line.
The main goal of dentistry is to preserve your natural teeth and keep them healthy for as long as possible. There are times, however, when it is in your best interest (or your child's) to have a tooth extracted (removed). This could be the case for a variety of reasons. Perhaps you have a tooth that has been severely damaged by trauma or decay; or an impacted wisdom tooth that may cause trouble for you later on.

I recently moved, and life has also gotten in the way. I was suddenly in so much pain and I needed to see a dentist fast. Much like most in pain; the dentist proves to be necessary, but kinda scary. You don’t get that with Dr. Zgoba.
He and his staff have made me feel comfortable every step of the way. After the first visit; I was out of pain. He designed a comprehensive treatment plan for me that works with for me and takes his time to answer every question I have.
He knows that I’m a little apprehensive in the chair and he takes his time and does everything very gently.
