We accept children between the ages of 14 months through age 12 years regardless of race, color, gender or national origin. We offer both full and part time care. We offer learning programs throughout the day; preschool and school-age before and after school programs. To provide an affordable, top quality program for families whose children require supplemental care during the day.

Services
The first Tacoma Day was founded in 1911 to care for 10 children of working mothers. Since that time it has been expanded to its present capacity of 72, and a preschool program has been incorporated into our daily routine. Tacoma Day is housed in a building designed for its present use. It has three large, cheery classrooms, a spacious outdoor playground and play deck, and modern equipment for the children's use.
We respect the teaching staff, children and families and the many ways in which they learn. We believe in working together as co-constructors of knowledge, keeping communication open to create the best possible program for our children. Our program continues to provide a safe and nurturing environment. We empower our children with activities that allow them to develop socially, emotionally, physically and cognitively. Children enjoy art, music, math, science, literature, computers, physical activities and community resources such as parks, museums, and libraries.
Our program is designed so that as the child moves up there is continuity from one age grouping to the next. Communication is a partnership with parents. The focus of this partnership is to develop a plan to include each child's individual needs, temperament, and cues. Children are provided with a sensory rich environment that invites exploration and optimum learning experiences.
