Dr. Doyle Starnes, founder of Starnes Animal Clinic, retired from veterinary practice in 2017. He is a graduate of Texas A&M School of Veterinary Medicine and practiced in the Tyler area for 40 years. He originally established a mixed animal practice with Dr. Don Wheeler before opening Starnes Animal Clinic.
Our veterinarians recommend regular wellness exams for the same reason your physician and dentist recommend them. Wellness exams are the best way to prevent or detect disease early before it becomes a serious health condition. Each examination will vary slightly depending on the species, age, and health needs of your pet.
Starnes Animal Clinic is proud to provide the Tyler area with over-night and day boarding services. Our highly-trained staff practices the highest standards of care and cleanliness for boarding guests. Our boarding facility is fully heated and air conditioned with separate dog and cat boarding areas.

Did not have a good experience with this Place. I guess more accurately should be did not have a good experience with the office manager some kid who is rude arrogant and condescending When I asked to speak to the owner he told me he was the owner, I didn't think so so I repeated I said you are the owner then he was like oh no no I'm not the owner… and I've asked to speak to the owner now 3 times and have still yet to speak to the owner. I think that some places seem to forget that people are human a human when you go in for a visit that and you're not told the pricing up front and the services

I love Dr. Shirey and have trusted him and his staff with all my dogs. I have utilized all of their services of the years from vaccines to boarding to grooming and have never been disappointed. I like the flow… of our visits. I like that they examine my dog right in front of me with live feedback. I have been to other vets when Starnes was booked up for an emergency and have never received the level of great care I receive here. I never feel cheated or over charged or done dirty. I feel safe, my dogs feel safe and I feel confident in their entire staff. 10/10 recommend always. Total of 8

My 2 dogs both had swelling to their faces and one was bleeding and the other had difficulty breathing. After giving them Benadryl they settled and the next day Starnes clinic was able to get both of my dogs in. Turns out it was from a copperhead bite. They took great care of Betsy and Bruce and I’m so thankful.

So today I went in for my dog Beaux’s yearly check up. First Jared came in and he was awesome very polite, respectful and engaging with Beaux. Beaux and Jared went to the back for Beaux’s weight check and… heartworm test and when he came back he was in a good mood. Jared and Dr. Jou were amazing and grade A. They really made the experience a pleasant one for Beaux and I.
