The martial arts taught at our dojo differ in appearance, however, they are all expressions of one concept- "Budo." It is a journey of constant refinement and self-mastery; we study budo to empower our bodies, develop compassion and to subdue our ego- allowing us to overcome conflict within ourselves and others.

Through the practice of traditional martial arts- through good budo, we make ourselves, our community and our country stronger. Being a positive influence on humanity and the world is the ultimate goal. This years event will include a unique schedule of MJER Waza, Tachiuchi and Tsumeai no kurai. Carl Long, Soshihan, serves.

It is our mission to share a unique selection of Japanese Martial Arts with the Southern Valley. By learning traditional martial arts and participating in centuries-old lines of instruction, you can gain a sense of belonging to something bigger than yourself. Any martial art absent of a system of etiquette can only transmit violence.
Iaijutsu is the ancient Japanese martial art of drawing the sword and cutting in one fluid motion. The first creation of techniques that emphasized the draw-and-cut are widely credited to Hayashizaki Jinsuke Minamoto no Shigenobu (1546-1621). The first schools dedicated exclusively to sword drawing appeared during the late 16th and early 17th centuries.
