Lobscouser Seafood Restaurant

Nice, quaint, family-owned seafood spot on High Street. Menu prices are affordable and you get quality food, cooked to perfection! My hubby and I tried it for lunch last week and we loved the choices! The complimentary hush puppies, at the start, were bomb!

Customer service was great! Food was okay, crab dip was NOT good at all, wouldn't recommend but would suggest they try a different recipe. The rest of the food was as expected nothing to rave about. Will go again and try something else.

This adorable little restaurant in Old Towne Portsmouth is one of those places you go for comfort foods, good prices and friendly service. The Fried Catfish was really fluffy, I loved it. We also had the calamari and the crab puffers. The Stuffed Mushrooms were filled with a crab filling and was in a rich cream sauce. It was great. The Seafood Combo was ordered by my mom, it was a large portion with 2 sides and hush puppies!! Ordered the broiled sea scallop lunch special. Delicious. Definitely got my moneys worth and I will continue to come back.

Ommmgggg The food was sooooo tasty and our waitress Danielle was spot on! I had the Cajun catfish and collard green, the catfish was seasoned and fried perfectly. For dessert we had BANANA PUDDING CHEESECAKE and it was amazing!

I’m so glad we found this place. I wouldn’t call it fine dining, but it was delicious. You can’t beat their early bird prices and everything we had tasted great. Absolutely loved their sweet slaw. We’ve lived in VA for 7 years and haven’t found anyone else that makes it. Can’t wait to go back.

The waitress was nice, but the food not so much. The “fried calamari” I had didn’t look like calamari at all. And even if it was it was frozen and then put into the microwave. It was was like chewing on a rubber band when I ate some and I almost threw up. My dish definitely needs some improvement but other than that the Decor and the staff where amazing!

This was a cute, quaint restaurant in Portsmouth. As a local seafood connoisseur, I always judge a restaurant on one of two dishes: crab cakes and friend shrimp. I ordered the fried shrimp, and they were average. The breading was simple and although they were cooked decent, they were nothing to write home about. My husband had the broiled seafood platter and his crab cake contained a lot of filler. The hush puppies were delicious! He did have a cider based old fashioned that definitely had enough bourbon for a buzz, but the cider flavor was overpowering. One or two less ice cubes would have also

It is a nice restaurant. The flounder in my flounder imperial was a little too grilled for me but it was flavored nicely. The crab could have used some old bay seasoning, but that may be just me because in Maryland, we put old bay on all of our crab meat. The broccoli was excellent. The cucumber-tomato said was okay. It seemed to be lacking something in the seasoning but it was okay. I would order it again.

Went for happy hour. Got the Cajun dip soup. Very good. Got a salad good. Got the broiled flounder. Very good. Came with these hush puppies. Out of this world great. Up there with some of the best hush puppies I've ever had.

Unfortunately, the crab dip had more mayo than cheese and the complimentary hush puppies were fried in more flour than cornmeal. Some people might prefer these, but not my style. No judgment.
The catfish was hot and fresh and the rice seemed to be cooked in a flavorful broth. The side salad and cucumber/tomato/basil side were delicious.
And I had plenty of leftovers!

Went to Lobscouser for the first time Friday for lunch. The food was awesome, the service great and the prices pretty cheap. I'll be going back soon.

Customer service (5 stars)on point, gumbo more like gravy with rice & small amount of meat. Mustard fried catfish was the 💣 but only one piece ( should asked the customer one or two slices😁) on a bed of rice, fries need salt 🤦🏽‍♂️, Hush puppies are = 2 cheddar biscuits to Red Lobster💥. Slice Key Lime cheesecake wasn't bad $5.50 , need more Key Lime tho. 3 stars because they have no military% in a D.O.D. area🤔. My military party tipped anyways. Ended up here because Roger Browns didn't open till 11:30 and the internet said 11🤬. Going give them another try, prices for lunch

Crab cakes are perfect! Everyone is super friendly. Great prices!!! Early bird special options are great! All home-made and you can tell. Their desserts are great too! Favorites are key lime pie and raspberry cheesecake!!

Placed in order for lunch on my birthday! I was super excited and in the mood for some great seafood! The employee on the phone was super rude and rushed me off. It was super unexpected, and caught me of guard . I went to pick up the food and had to wait 10 minutes for someone to come to the front to ask what i had ordered. I understand it's lunch time so I know it's busy! The salmon was super yummy! I wasn't to crazy about the wedge steak fries. The broccoli was large but super unseasoned! I loved the hush puppies ! This little gem offers delicious seafood at excellent prices. When I moved to Hampton Roads five years ago I anticipated a good seafood restaurant on every corner. After living in Ohio for the previous 19 years I was very excited to be back on a coast again; this time the Atlantic instead of the Pacific. I have been disappointed at the lack of good seafood restaurants in this area. There are a couple very good high end places but I wanted that mid-week, casual, I don't want to get all dressed up but must have terrific seafood tonight kind of place that I became accustomed to in San Diego

Food was hot and very good. Ordered the flounder which was equally as good as the halibut at Dressler's, but half the price. The building is a bit run down but I don't really care; it's clean and the food is tasty.

I LOVE this place. Excellent food. Prepared quickly. Great service. Very good value. Locally owned for 32 years. Clean comfortable atmosphere. Friendly, too.

The stars are for the lipstick found on the water glass. I don't know what type of washing could've have taken place because the multiple lipstick prints were perfectly placed and not even smeared.

This is a small and comfortable restaurant. I had the blackened crab cakes, fries, and broccoli. The broccoli was cooked properly. The crab cakes were flavorful, I don't think it was truly blackened with that specific blackened seasonings, but it was good nonetheless. The fries were cut wide like steak fries, and the lunch meal comes with free hush puppies. You cannot substitute the hush
