Thanks to our experience and dedication, we've managed to become masters of the craft. Providing dishes that are fresh, elegant and simply unforgettable. A Norfolk native, Amanda found her love of cooking and restaurant life as a hostess at Luna Maya in 2001. After graduating Johnson & Wales University in 2005, Amanda began her culinary career at Todd Jurich's Bistro after a successful externship.

She then joined Chris Glover's Little Bar Bistro family for 5 years working at both Six and Pacifica. In 2013 she relocated to Florida and worked at Carmen's Lunch Bar of Pensacola, a local favorite and frequent award winner, for 2 years. After moving back to Norfolk she rejoined forces with her former Todd Jurich's mentor Ross Riddle on his Hashi food truck.

We had a great night with my husband's adult granddaughter, but online menu is more extensive than the actual menu. Would not recommend the sausage trio. Our second time getting and we left 80 percent. Granddaughter was so disappointed because online says they still have the beloved truffles but they do not. They offered bread pudding, but no comparison. Overall great place, but several disappointments.

We had the best night here. Family party of 6 all ordered different alcoholic drinks, tapas and desserts. We tried about 70% of the menu and everything was amazing. At 7pm on Friday, the place was packed, vibrant and loud. Next time, we’ll probably try earlier on a week day for a more romantic feel. Overall, an excellent experience. We will definitely be back.

This was a dope spot. Right off of High Street in the cut. A basement and restaurant. You go here for the drinks and the vibe but not necessarily to get full. They servings are small but flavorful. The atmosphere was awesome. We had the Mahi, wings (my date not me.. they were good though),broccoli, mashed potatoes and asparagus.. I got the bread pudding for dessert.. This is definitely a place for conversationalists. I will revisit this place again in the near future.

Tremendous little place with a speak easy vibe. The food is fantastic with not a singular bad plate out of the five we ate. Drinks were created with great care and precision and were nothing short of spectacular. My wife raved that the East Side is “deliciously refreshing.” All the various bourbon drinks were spot on. Highly recommend for a first timer or for repeat customers.

The ambiance begins as you walk up to the front door. An unassuming backdoor with an awning leading to the basement of a large historic looking white house. Inside is a relaxed and intimate vibe. All the dishes were delicious. My party loved the scallops the most. Great cocktail list too. Highly recommend this place.

Good food - it's a tapas bar so quality over quantity. Dessert was an amazingly rich chocolate torte. Great place for a special occasion!

It's been more than a minute since I last visited The Still...
But I'm sure the ambience, the staff, the interesting tapas dishes...
The "Drink" Wall.
What I love most and I'm sure has not changed is the location.
in the basement of a house and the history of how it came to be.. is even more interesting,
make it worth checking out again very soon

This is a basement/ lower level intimate restaurant. All the tapas we had were fantastic. The duck, risotto, scallops, roasted chickpea/ sweet potato were all very flavourful.

Cocktails were top notch, service was good.

They have an outdoor patio, it was pouring, so we were socially distantly seated inside. All staff wore masks.

I'll definitely be back! Highly recommended! Loved the speak easy entrance & overall atmosphere.

I had to share this little hidden gem in my birthplace Portsmouth, Va. It's a speakeasy style tapas restaurant & everything CHEF AMANDA made & suggested was absolutely delectable. 100% hands down a tasty gastronomic experience. The choice of BOURBON WHISKEY is Reverend and is locally distilled out of Gent. Please check it out and let Chef Amanda know Nikole sent you! Enjoy

The awesome service Thank you for being so awesome, attentive, problem solving and caring! We came with 3 kids to have dinner after a long road trip, and were amazed by all the service and care we received! The food was unbelievably flavorful and delicious. Everything we tried was unforgettable! P.S. the desserts- we tried chocolate mousse and key lime custard Loved it!

Wow, pleasant surprise for a tourist visiting town for a few days. Walked in on a whim after taking the ferry from Norfolk. First time fully opening post covid closures and staff went above and beyond. They were wearing 2 hats and I was understanding despite being understaffed.
Seared salmon with risotto was a hit!! Ordered a 2nd plate that's how much I loved the dish. Perfectly seasoned and seared with a nice crisp skin. Risotto complemented the fish perfectly. Stuffed pepper with curry was great, would convert me to a vegetarian if all vegetable dishes tasted that good. Pimento cheese dip was

Great whiskey selection, and the food was very good, but also extremely expensive for tapas. Definitely more of a "table for two" kind of place, not really for groups of more than 3-4 max. I would go again.

Was very happy with our food. We had a large party of 12 and at 6p they were already out of some of the items available. Half the table was finished eating before the last 4 received any of their plates.
The have good old fashioned old fashions and their own whiskey. The waitress was not very knowledgeable on drinks and offering substitutes. (Ex. Ordered A nut brown ale, they were out and she offered a cider...)
Better spot for smaller groups as they may not have the staff to support trying to get that many dishes out at a time.

The setting (speak easy) was really cool, and I love that it's a female-led establishment. My fiancé's duck breast with apple compote, Brussels spirits, and radicchio was thoughtfully composed and delicious with a perfect cook on the duck. My macaroni and cheese (actually using penne rather than macaroni) was a bit bland though. Extensive whiskey menu!

Waited for our table at the bar, plenty of drink selections! Enjoyed all our food from escargot to duck tacos. The pork tenderloin was beyond expectations. And the chocolate truffles were the perfect way to end the night. Service was spotty, took almost 20 minutes to get our drinks to us, but other than that was good.

OMG!

PSA- this is the BEST hidden gem in VA. Hands Down this place needs more exposure and I can't believe it's taken me this long to find it. This is definitely now in my top 3 favorite restaurants of all time, and I eat out somewhere new at least 2 times a week.

PSA #2- This will be a LONG review, but I'll make it worth it!

Upon arriving to STILL, The entrance felt like a secret society and I would be needing a password to enter. Well, I like taking chances...

We opened the door and wow- what a quaint, dark, romantic, awesome, amazing ambiance. This is a tapas style cuisine

We have been choosing this place for more than 10 years. Clearly, it’s one of our favorites. The 1858 building and speakeasy-like entrance add a distinctive feel to your entrance. The decor of dark woods, mustard walls, and milk chocolate ceilings create a cozy sense of place.
My husband loves that he can order several small plates and enjoy abundant variety.
The wine list is always enjoyable and the staff is well informed about choices. I find waitstaff happy to share suggestions and personal opinions.
I can seldom get past the duck tacos. The combination of flavors, moist meat, varied textures

This is my favorite "watering hole ". Aka "The Still". Let me explain for those of you who don't think of Portsmouth as a place one might find fine eating, drinking and friendly atmosphere. Portsmouth has a history; some bad, but lately things have changed.
"The Still" is a perfect example of what's to come in the next 4-5 years. When people think of old and beautiful parts of Hampton Roads, they think of Ghent. But I predict Portsmouth is going to change all of this very soon.

Still is a basement level tapas style restaurant with a cozy atmosphere and lots of great spaces that make the seating personal. A fairly large L-shaped bar which highlights the feature of this place which is casual drinking. A large selection of distilled spirits, wine and even some local craft beer. Good food with some vegetarian dishes but nothing that I felt I could not have made at home. I liked it and worth a visit and you might love it but I am Still undecided.

Came here one time for my friends birthday, now my boyfriend and I are hooked! I love the idea of small plates (tapas) and being able to try many things from a wide variety that's great through and through. They have soup of the day and the lobster bisque is delicious! I honestly can't pick out a specific food because everything is delightful. I guess the duck tacos are number 1 in my heart (only place I've eaten duck) with the fried artichoke hearts as a near 2nd place.

The location is so "speakeasy" like and secluded, makes you feel special for finding such a hole in
