You could say Travis, a co-owner and stylist here at RooTs, was born into the industry. With both a mother and aunt who are veteran stylists, he grew up in salons and has picked up a wealth of knowledge along the way. He has a passion for bringing clients the latest trends, and is always learning new and innovative techniques.
Theresa is a co-owner of RooTs and is a veteran stylist. She has completed multiple advanced trainings at Vidal Sassoon, and has more than four decades of experience behind the chair. RooTs is the second salon Theresa has owned and she loves working in the Boulder community, which she's called home for many years.
Elise is a co-owner and stylist at RooTs, and has more than 40 years of experience as a stylist. She loves regular visits from her large and loyal clientele, and is always looking to add a new face to the mix. While she has decades of training, Elise stays active in learning the newest trends and techniques.

Disappointed. I've hesitated writing this review. But my haircut stinks.
Roots came recommended by a neighbor. I really wanted to like this place.
I arrived on time and was told to sit in the middle and was pointed that way. I sat for 15 minutes before being acknowledged by my stylist. No touching base, sorry we are running behind. No would you like water, tea, etc. During my wait another client arrived, was escorted to the waiting area and offered refreshments. A regular client.
Once in the chair I was mid-sentence discussing my hair when my stylist's cell phone rang. Which she answered

I love Travis! I first came in last year and had him cut18 inches then after re opening pre COVID shut down I had him take it to my shoulders, I gave him full authority to do what he thought would be good and I LOVE my haircut and color!!! I now come in every couple months for upkeep and I will always recommend him!

Probably the worst experience with customer service at a hair place I've had in my entire life. So bad and so bizarre in fact that I get the impression the woman who answers the phone is mentally ill. I was trying to schedule a followup to fix up a haircut from Dora, who cut my hair a whole inch longer than I'd asked, and the woman on the phones kept telling me she "couldn't see her," but eventually admitted she was lying after I'd called several times, and could see Dora plainly but just didn't want to say anything to her. If I could less than a one star I would!!! I went here for almost a year but in the last week I showed up for an appointment to find out first that my stylist accidentally booked it for the wrong week. Then after rescheduling, and get the confirmation call for my appointment, that somehow my next appointment wasn't being honored because somehow someone else was booked at the same time. I will never go back here again and I feel that this is a terrible business!!!!

I wish I could give Kristy a million stars! I've been getting my hair done forever and have never been this pleased. Kristy takes the time to listen to exactly what you want, is concerned with the health of your hair, and is an absolute hair wizard/genius!!! She definitely knows what's in style and is super fun to talk to. Also, great prices for such stellar service. Best hair experience I've ever had and I'm extremely particular with my hair!

Roots is an awesome place run by a mother/son duo. I always trust Travis to make my head beautiful! He listens to exactly what I want and exceeds my expectations every time-all the while singing and dancing to pop hits! Love him. Also, my man always trusts Maddie to keep him looking hip! She is a trained barber so ladies, send your men to her if you want them looking great!

No one does color like Travis! I drive in from Denver to go to Roots. Not only is Travis extremely talented, he also is a great listener and very adept at consulting on overall style or color. He gives great suggestions, and I am always thrilled with the results. The overall Roots environment is very nice--bright and sunny with good music, coffee and tea, and local artwork on display.

Travis is the most amazing stylist in Boulder. He does fabulous cuts and absolutely gorgeous color.
I've been seeing Travis for almost 10 years, but recently he completely changed my hair by giving me keratin treatments. My hair has gone from curly, unruly, and frizzy to silky smooth. I don't have to blow dry or straighten it for a month after each treatment. I've gotten treatments that were twice as expensive and didn't work half as well! He is a genius!
Mattie is also amazing at what she does! Everyone who works here does brilliant work. Make sure to check out RooTs next
