While it was a difficult decission on moving from a beautiful landmark that our great great grandfather moved into 90 years ago, this will help us grow in the future. The funeral home is still owned by Mark and Bob Russell, so you will see the same faces. The phone numbers will not change. Please feel free to call with any questions or concerns you may have.

For over five generations, Rhode Island families have looked to our firm for compassionate assistance with their funeral arrangements. We remain committed to our tradition of dignity and caring that can only be provided by an owner-managed firm. When you speak to our directors, you are speaking with decision makers.
Services
Located on the historical East Side of Providence, the funeral home started in 1876 as T. F. Monahan & Son started on Wickenden Street in the Fox Point section on the East Side. The funeral home moved up to Wayland Square, at the corner of Waterman Street and Wayland Avenue in 1932 and still graces that corner.
Our experienced and professional staff are here to guide you through the creation of a service that reflects your values, your preferences, and your loved one's individual life story. We offer a variety of ways for you to honor their life, pay tribute, and celebrate special memories as you begin to heal and find closure.
Planning your funeral arrangements in advance allows you to take your time in deciding how you'd like to be celebrated after you're gone. It also lets you give invaluable peace of mind to your family members by removing the burden of making those personal decisions during such an emotionally difficult time.
The following resources will help to answer your initial questions and give you some basic guidance during your time of need. Of course, these links are just a starting point; if you have any further questions, or would like to connect with our staff for personal advice and support, don't hesitate to contact us directly.
The Monahan, Drabble & Sherman Funeral Home is proud to be working with Brown University and the Warren Albert School of Medicine with their Anatomical Gift Program. For over 25 years, we have been assisting the Medical School with helping the families of a donor after the death. We arrange for transport from place of death, file all necessary form including notifying Social Security.
