Russ developed his exceptional work ethic at an early age by working with is father on their Wayne County farm. While working on the farm, Russ developed numerous hobbies stemming from the work he performed everyday after school.
His favorite hobby was the growing of shrubs and flowers. After graduating from Dalton high school, Russ entered Wooster College but during his time at college The United States was at war with Germany so Russ did the right thing by enlisting in the service despite only being seventeen years old. After serving his country proudly, Russ decided to enroll back in college at The Ohio State University where he studied embalming.

Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home & Chapel is proud to offer a very special product to our clients. The memorial video/DVD is the perfect way to pay tribute to your loved ones. The memorial video/DVD is a collection of your family photos that are digitally transferred to DVD for a spectacular visual presentation that the whole family will cherish.
The basic Military Funeral Honors (MFH) ceremony consists of the folding and presentation of the United States flag to the veterans' family and the playing of Taps. The ceremony is performed by a funeral honors detail consisting of at least two members of the Armed Forces. The Funeral Honors rendered to you or your veteran will be determined by the status of the veteran.
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) furnishes upon request, at no charge to the applicant, a Government headstone or marker for the unmarked grave of any deceased eligible veteran in any cemetery around the world, regardless of their date of death. When the grave is already marked, applicants will have the option to apply for either a traditional headstone or marker, or a new device (available spring 2009).

This is the best place to spend the worst day of your life. I have used Eckard Baldwin for both of my parents. The first time I was with my father while he prepared for my mother's funeral. The second time I was solo, preparing for my father's funeral. Death of a loved one isn't easy. Planning for it alone is daunting and overwhelming. However, Russ Eckard, Stephanie, Greg, and Roger, make you feel like family. They all go above and beyond to make sure that every detail is just perfect. They think of all the things that you don't have time to think about. Both my parent's funerals were perfect

I am highly satisfied with how the staff at Eckard Baldwin handled the services for my late Young brother!! Very friendly and professional. Even though I went to Russell Eckard and express to him my financial burden he made me feel like everything would be just fine, and it was. Thank God for compassionate people, at hard and heartbreaking times, Mr. Russell Eckard Thank you, for being Caring, compassionate, understanding and all around awesome, at this very difficult time in my life! Russell Eckard and his team took care of all of the details that helped us make the celebration of our father's life wonderful. We were pleasantly surprised to find a beautiful framed drawing of our father (a sketch of the picture used for his obituary) on display when we arrived for the service. I highly recommend Eckard Baldwin.
