Whether your horse needs bodywork or you need help with saddle fitting or finding the right saddle, we provide tailored solutions that achieve real results! Each session is tailored to your horse's needs. Our modalities include deep tissue and sports massage, skeletal alignment, myofascial release, Chinese medicine, cupping, taping, and so much more!

We sell Black Country and Niedersuss dressage, jumper and all purpose saddles and Christie Saddlery Western saddles. Horses and humans have a lot in common regarding the need for bodywork, massage, stretching and properly fitted athletic equipment, especially the saddle. Just like humans, horses may experience sore or stiff muscles and lack of musculoskeletal balance.
Services
During the initial appointment, I will discuss and review the information you provide on the Equine Initial Intake Form to ensure I have a thorough understanding of the current issue(s) as well as your horse's health and saddle history. A thorough bodywork assessment of your horse will then be performed so I can devise the best bodywork plan for your horse during the appointment.
Ilene has worked on thousands of privately owned horses of all breeds and disciplines throughout her career. She was also the equine bodyworker and horse massage therapist for the Portland Mounted Patrol. Her bodywork services range from preventative care and maintenance, injury recovery, management of chronic issues, preparation for and recovery from shows, endurance rides, and trail rides, to the occasional "tune up."
Kinesiology taping is a taping technique designed for use in both therapeutic (injury rehabilitation) and working athletic situations. Kinesiology tape has been successfully used on humans for over 25 years. It gained significant popularity during the 2012 Summer Olympics. As seen on TV, many elite athletes use kinesiology tape such as Kerri Walsh, Venus Williams, Usain Bolt and Michael Johnson just to name a few.
Did you know studies indicate 75-90% of all saddles in use do not properly fit the horse on which they are used? Did you know improper saddle fit can cause lameness, back, hip and pelvis issues, permanent muscle damage, cervical (neck) issues, shoulder issues, behavioral issues, poor performance and pain?
It is critical that your saddle panels are symmetrical and the foam or wool flocking is not hard, lumpy or bumpy. Otherwise, horse and rider back pain, musculoskeletal damage and even lameness can occur. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure! Here are two quick "prevention actions" you can do now.
