I am a highly trained and experienced Licensed Clinical Counselor, specializing in couples counseling and sex therapy, as well as specialized work with the evaluation and treatment of ADHD and other psychological and life problems. I bring over thirty years of experience to my counseling practice.
I have also provided clinical supervision, taught numerous psychology/counseling courses, and conducted professional trainings and workshops in many areas of clinical work.I have worked with literally hundreds of individuals and families in the New River Valley and surrounding areas. My approach is to be both active and compassionate with problem solving.

Couples seek therapy for a wide range of reasons. More often than not, couples who seek therapy have trouble communicating effectively. Consequently, there is a breakdown in one or many parts of the relationship.
Often times I'll hear that couples have lost time in their lives for one another, the trust is gone, or they feel betrayed; their sexual lives and desire has diminished, they fight and argue about the same things and never find resolution; and they feel more negatively about their partner than they do positively.This shift in a relationship can bring about many emotions, including sadness, confusion, and despair.

As a specialist in the diagnosis and treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Dr. Barker provides comprehensive and affordable assessment and treatment services for children, adolescents, and adults. Dr. Barker is Co-Director of the ADHD Speciality Clinic and utilizes a team approach to accurately and effectively assess and treat ADHD/ADD.
I currently practice with limited office hours, based on appointments. My current fees are typical for this area and payment may be made by cash, check or credit card. My current fee is $130.00 per session for individual or couples therapy, and payment is due at the end of each session. Testing and evaluation fees vary based on the service.
