Our school was founded in 1991 by Grand Master Soonho Hong and proudly serves in Santa Maria, CA. At our Dojang, our goal is to promote your health and well-being physically, mentally, and spiritually, through Taekwondo as a discipline and as a way of life. We teach both traditional and Olympic-style Taekwondo training in Gyeorugi (sparring) and Poomsae (forms).

Exciting and fun classes so that our Tiny Tigers have a great exercise and release their energy!. We teach our Tiny Tigers the importance of listening to their parents and teachers, of having proper behavior, manner, and respect. We provide a rewarding, positive environment to motivate children, help them learn to challenge themselves, and to be able to face and overcome obstacles with resilience.
Grand Master Soonho Hong is a Kukkiwon World Taekwondo Federation certified eighth degree black belt and a world-renowned Grand Master of Taekwondo. He has devoted his life to Taekwondo and its development locally, nationally and internationally.
He first began Taekwondo at age 7 in Seoul, South Korea under the instruction of his father, Great Grand Master Chong Soo Hong, in addition to specially training at the Moo Duk Kwan headquarters in Korea.Grand Master Hong founded S.H. Hong Taekwondo Academy and opened his first dojang in the United States in Santa Maria, CA in 1991, his second dojang in Vancouver, WA in 1997, and his current dojang in Santa Maria, CA in in 2011.

Before I quitted on Brown with Red stripe Sometimes they were nice and sometimes they were serious and mean depending on the day. One time I didn't have my groin protector (Others didn't either) and he only asked me if I had one. I said no. He walked to the back room where our bags were (Maybe checked my bag). He came back and told me to leave. I was only 12yrs old without a phone to call for a ride. So they made me wait outside until the class was over. They didn't even let me get my bag because I got kicked out.

This is probably one of the best martial art places in Santa Maria. They have a good program that made my body healthier and stronger. However that is not what impressed me the most. What impressed me the most was the fact that they taught me about respect and how to gain respect. Ive been here for a year and everyone outside has been complimenting my character and how much Ive changed as a person. (Of course in a good way xD) Anyways in conclusion I recommend anybody who wants to exercise and develop a better character to come here and join the many classes they have.

The family who runs this school really knows their stuff. If you look closely the athleticism of the teenage black belts who have worked with the Hongs for several years is higher then what you will see at many other schools.
Master Hong is very good at taking soft kids and turning them in to confident teenagers who know they're not made of glass. This tae kwon doe school is the real deal. The black belts it produces can compete in the muay thai and full contact karate enviroment. Or with a year or two of Boxing and wrestling be competant in MMA.

S.H. Hong Taekwondo Academy is a great place for both kids and adults who want to learn martial arts! Your child will gain confidence and discipline as well as get the exercise they need! It's also great for adults who want to get back into shape and learn self defense techniques! My physical endurance has definitely gotten better after just a couple of months of attending classes at this dojang! The staff are all friendly and provide a welcoming atmosphere. I remember the day I first walked into this dojang, I was greeted with a warm smile and felt really welcomed! I definitely recommend

I just wanted to say thank you again to Grandmaster Hong, Master Steve, Master Dana, instructor Trent, and instructor Eduardo for all their help and training with me receiving my 1st Dan Black Belt back in December of 2013. My daughter and I love our home Dojang and everyone that is a part of it. I am now one of the instructors and attend two to three times a week. I would highly recommend S.H. Hong Taekwondo Academy.
