Services
Schroeder-Lauer Funeral home was founded by Richard H. "Dick" Schroeder in 1941. At the age of 12, his family moved to Lansing, Illinois. Dick attended Indiana Avenue Grammar School in Lansing, and in 1930 graduated from Thornton Fractional High School in Calumet City, Illinois. Dick continued on to Worsham College of Mortuary Science from where he graduated in 1938.

The following is a list of choices which represent the cost of our services. They may or may not include the casket or container required for visitation or viewing, burial, entombment or cremation. Set-up for limited visitation of an unembalmed body. Limited to Immediate Family Only for up to one (1) hour during regular business hours (9 AM - 5 PM).

I have so much gratitude for the guys here. My Grandpa passed during covid and they allowed us to have an intimate funeral with our immediate family. I never thought I could call a funeral beautiful, but that’s what it was. So personal. The staff were so helpful and kind and their efforts to be there for us during this time did not go unnoticed. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

My father recently passed away. We contacted Schroeder-Lauer. They were the most respectful, caring and thorough people from covering my father with the American flag when removing him from our family home because he was a veteran and praying after they put him in the van to contacting the army who played taps and folded the American flag to give to my mom. They contacted our church and made sure the obituary got in on time. Anything we needed they helped make it happen. Recommend them highly!
