We have fallen in love with Downtown Charlottesville and people, since we moved here in 2009. My partner and I work so hard to keep the Monsoon that everyone love, still easy and cozy. The place that you can chill out at re-opened under the name "Monsoon Siam". Our restaurant serves quality food and drinks with reasonable prices, inspired by original Thai cuisine.
This influence has involved into an eclectic and personal menu, including favorites like Pad Thai, Tom Yum noodles soup and vegetarian foods. In the summer, Monsoon Siam has a large shady patio overlooking Market Street. Also in the winter, we have a colorful eclectic decor inside, featuring art and furniture by employees and friends, past and present.

The food here is pretty good but they added a 20% tip automatically which is not advertised anywhere. They don’t tell you there is an automatic 20% tip and try to trick you into giving more on top of that. I have heard of minimum tips on large parties before and I normally tip generously, but it was just me and my wife and the tip wasn’t on the bill they handed us, they just sneak it in when they hand you the credit card machine. Very deceptive. We will not be going there again.
Edit: And now to reply to my review with an outright lie is just crazy. The 20% tip was added already on the credit

Food - 5/5
Atmosphere - 4/5
Service - 5/5
Value - 5/5
Truly above any other Thai food you’d find in Charlottesville! The Thai curry was bold and flavorful and much more than I expected; I highly recommend. I love the young green pepper that they add with many of their dishes, it adds something that you didn’t know you was missing. We did take-out and didn’t feel that we suffered in the experience at all. Though I haven’t tried many, their cocktails list is interesting.

Pickup time was spot on. The food was separated nicely and appropriately marked. Wasn't the best bang for the buck. Did receive half a duck, but it was deep fried with heavy coating. Not my preferred way of getting crispy basil duck. The sauce was sweet and had very little basil. Not the best tasting crispy basil duck. I also prefer the thinner spring rolls, here you get more of an egg roll sized portion with a honey dipping sauce. Not to my taste. Depending on your taste, this may be your place to go for Thai, but I prefer other C-ville Thai restaurants over this that taste better and are cheaper

Service was so friendly! There is a variety of options for vegans, gluten free, vegetarian, and people who can eat about anything. Everything was delicious from the Thai iced tea to the Crying Tiger and pad Thai. Monsoon Siam is located on the downtown mall in Charlottesville. Great spot to go for a work lunch, night with friends, or a date!

Easily one of my favorite meals of the trip & some of the best Thai food I've ever had! The Pad Thai was top notch & very flavorful for not being spicy & the soup was crazy, the clear chicken broth was absolutely delicious! And they had great Thai iced tea to top it off, the only mistake was not getting one each instead of the mango drink.
