Born and raised in Long Island, Stephen Distler spent 25 years in the financial services industry before getting involved in the restaurant business. A highly successful businessman with an impeccable eye for sound investments, Distler worked the majority of his career at Warburg Pincus, LLC, one of the world's pre-eminent private equity investment firms, where he served as Managing Director and Treasurer.
His success allowed for an early retirement at age 50 and provided him the time and resources to venture into the commercial development of Princeton real estate in the mid-2000s. After purchasing two substantial pieces of property, Distler utilized one to open the first community bank in Princeton since the 1980s - The Bank of Princeton.

The new Elements in downtown Princeton is amazing. Very intimate, personal experience, open kitchen, great, creative, innovative food on the second floor of Mistral. This place is in its own category in Princeton! The service is the best in Princeton by a long mile. It's the sort of service that you expect to see in a NY Times 3-4 star reviewed sort of place.
We celebrated our 25th Anniversary at Elements last night. Such an amazing night. The most incredible food with service to match. Everyone was so friendly, helpful and professional. I had the Chef's Tasting and EVERYTHING was perfect, one of the best tasting experiences I have had (if not the best).
Entertain your guests and clients at elements. As with our main dining room, our private dining areas embody our naturalistic philosophy and offer unrivaled comfort, elegance and functionality. Our distinctive Interpretative-American cuisine and remarkable, memorable menu conveys that the restaurant has been chosen as a compliment to your guests.

It looks like I can't write multiple reviews for a site, so I'll add onto my previous review.
We had the chef's tasting menu on NYE-eve and everything was incredible. Before I get to the food, the service was amazing. Everyone is very friendly and knowledgeable. Even better is that they are open to sharing any detail about the meal. We had the wine pairing and the sommelier was a delight. Her name escapes me, which is a shame since she remembered us from 2 years earlier.
This is the first time we had the tasting menu and it did not disappoint. The highlights for me were:
The seafood/mushroom

Had a wonderful dinner here. The food in Elements, service and wine list were all excellent. It was a really interesting menu with great flavours.
The barman in the Mistral bar downstairs was remarkably rude when we arrived. Next time I'll just arrive and go into their restaurant and head upstairs. There are other places to get a drink before dinner in Princeton. Fortunately he didn't detract too much from an otherwise delightful evening.

Everything was perfect down to the way I could observe the kitchen doing their cleaning at the end of the night. I loved every bite and wanted to thank the chefs in person but didn’t have the opportunity to do so. I loved the 5 course tasting menu. Amazing wine pairings that were so well selected. Nothing overpowered the food and they were delicious and they were explained very well. I will absolutely go back and I highly recommend it!

Great atmosphere, good drinks, but the food wasn’t the best. Everything was plated very well and the Presentation was great but it seemed like they spent more time presenting the food then actually preparing it. The service was okay, because we were young we felt as if the wait staff did not pay attention to us as much as some of the older couples. This restaurant fell very short of the expectations sadly.

Post-pandemic experience: Still five stars ⭐️! I recently reserved our anniversary dinner here and it was amazing. We had the privilege of being hosted by Claudia, a wine expert, she was very accommodating and very knowledgeable about deeper aspects of the prefix sequence and the pairing. We will undoubtedly be coming back for another special event.
Pre-pandemic experience: What an interesting and exquisite experience. I took a chance on this upscale gem for it’s promises of an open kitchen and amazingly modern style of fine dining. This was a special occasion, my wife’s birthday and my

I actually felt like I was in the Netflix series, The Chef's Table. The experience was worth every penny. We did the 5 course meal and we got way more food than we expected. It was hard not to try the bread even though we wanted to save room. Everything from start to finish was prepared and looked like artwork. My absolute favorite was the Wagyu beef dish and the blueberry dessert as seen in the pictures. Kudos to the staff and servers who made the experience flawless.

Awesome place! The food was delicious. The staff was not extremely friendly but know exactly what they are doing and how to serve their clients. We were impressed with the open kitchen. The smoke quail’s eggs, the roasted beet salad and the pheasant dish were phenomenal. It’s a great experience in downtown Princeton.

My first time there was for my birthday dinner, partially due to close proximity and good reviews. Certainly the chefs and the service surpassed my expectations with their great presentation and excellent world class food with mainly local ingredients. Being a world traveler and in comparison to many good restaurants I have been to I can comfortably say that everything was excellent at Michelin star level. Keep up the great work!
