The Northeastern Pennsylvania Health Care Foundation was established in 2011 following the sale of Mercy hospital in Scranton. Our mission is to function as a private foundation that supports the health care needs including, but not limited to, health education, community wellness, payment for medical care of the uninsured and underinsured, regardless of the facility of treatment, and to improve the complete physical, mental, and social well-being of the residents of Lackawanna, Luzerne, and Wyoming Counties.

SCRANTON - During a time where the strains on the healthcare workforce in Northeastern Pennsylvania have been significant, the Northeastern Pennsylvania Health Care Foundation announces its timely rollout of the Careers in Care program.

The Northeastern Pennsylvania Health Care Foundation's Careers in Care initiative-which focuses on developing the regional pipeline of the healthcare workforce and the growth and development of the nursing workforce in Lackawanna, Luzerne, and Wyoming Counties-will provide a combination of grant funding and scholarship support to help move the needle on these critical areas.
The Northeastern Pennsylvania Health Care Foundation recently announced the opening of its new Careers in Care Nursing Scholarship application, established through the Scranton Area Community Foundation. This $700,000 competitive nursing scholarship program aims to support the growth and development of the nursing workforce in NEPA.
