Mike is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School after completing his undergraduate education at Northern Illinois University, where he graduated as president of the Political Science Honor Society. Mike enlisted and served in the United States Army from 1969-1971.

C. Jeffrey ("Jeff") Thut was licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois in 1984. Since leaving the office of the Cook County State's Attorney in 1986, his practice has concentrated in civil litigation in Lake County, Illinois. In addition to Lake County, Jeff has successfully tried cases to juries seated in Cook, McHenry, DuPage, Kane, and Will Counties in Illinois.
