A year of preparation and there s/he is, standing on the bimah, reading Torah and Haftorah. Candy is thrown, tears are shed, special words between parents and children are spoken. There's pride and kvelling, limbo and sushi (well, a photographer can dream) and then family and friends dance the night away in celebration.
It takes a village, not only to raise a child, but to provide the love and labor to care for people and address problems big and small. Charities and non-profits transform lives and address the needs of a particular corner of society in ways that are amazing, and too often not known.

Shana took a series of headshots and studio photos of me in my home. She was a dream to work with. She has an unusual talent for bringing out an inner warmth and joy in the people she photographs - it's evident in every picture she took. It was hard picking just a few of the photos from our shoot - I easily could have chosen them all! I highly recommend Shana as a portrait photographer - she'll make you look beautiful inside and out!

Aside from choosing a date and beginning Torah study, the very first decision we made in the planning process was hiring Shana as our photographer. The first time we met with her, it was clear she was the right choice - her warmth, passion for her art, and ability to tell a story with her photos drew us in from the start.
It was the right decision, and Shana turned out to be more than just a photographer- she was our unofficial bat mitzvah sherpa, helping us with countless other decisions along the way. She reminded us about details we hadn’t even considered!
