It all started in 1992 when Master James Chick took the leap of faith and opened up his first Taekwondo dojang. Master Chick dedicated his life to changing lives through Taekwondo. In 2008 he became very sick and handed the reins over to his stepson, Sky Wood. Sky was only 19 and was on a mission to create his own legacy off of the foundation that was built for him.
He began to explore other martial arts and embodied the school name Unity. He feels every martial art has benefits and began incorporating them into the taekwondo system. He continued getting certified in many different arts and we slowly made the transition from Unity Taekwondo to Unity Martial Arts.

Services
Here at Unity, we offer a family environment to train a variety of martial arts to fulfill your goals and focus on improving your life. Master Wood began training in 1999 under his step dad Master James Chick. Through perseverance and consistency he worked his way up from a student, cleaning the dojang for his lessons, to master instructor and owner of Unity Martial Arts.
The benefits of Taekwondo are really endless. A better working body - a sharper, more focused mind - a stronger sense of self confidence - more self discipline - the ability to physically defend yourself, and so much more. There is something in Taekwondo for anyone and everyone.
Practicing martial arts at UMA is about physical fitness, character development (self esteem, self confidence, focus and concentration, self discipline) and self defense - not just kicking and punching.People often think that martial arts is about fighting, but that's not what we emphasize at Unity MA.

At UMA we strive to maintain a positive environment that is both conducive to learning and welcoming to potential students. We require our students, parents, and staff to adhere to the following rules and etiquette. We encourage parents to speak with us about their child's emotional/ behavioral issues in order to provide personal one on one mentoring and encouragement.
Master Sky is a gifted individual. Unity TKD is exactly as the name implies. Students learn the discipline of the art while experiencing an overwhelming presence of belonging/family. We love Unity and so does our son! He looks forward to going to Jiujitsu class every time and has learned so much from such great instructors!

We started out with Brazilian Jui Jitsu (BJJ). I tried out a few other BJJ gyms but this one was 5min from me vs the 40min for the other gym. We only attended for about 2.5mos. The instructors seem very knowledgeable of this art form, but the level of communication with regard to student progress, and competition was not up to par with the what I'm used to for extracurricular activities. I met the owner, the taekwondo instructor; he is really good with kids. He offered to allow me to finish out my 30-day cancellation with Taekwondo which I thought was really nice, but we've decided to

My son attends tae kwon-do class there and he loves it. Master Sky and his staff are not only exceptionally well trained, but they are also focused on their students and making sure they excel and do well. Tonight however, Unity really set themselves apart. We hosted my son's 9th birthday there and over 30 kids attended. Master Sky was hands down the most awesome party host. The kids LOVED it and the party went well over the allotted time as none of the kids wanted to leave. This is such an amazing place and they really do well on teaching and providing a wonderful atmosphere. They are simply the

I used to be an instructor here, and I will ALWAYS be a student under Master Wood and Master Hackett. I have since moved away for college, but I have taken with me the knowledge I have obtained training here. What will stick with me the most is the self-confidence, indomitable spirit, and the experience training with all the kiddos. There is not another heart on this earth that is as patient and loving as Sky Wood. Watching Sky work with these kids has left an everlasting impact on me, and I know that every one of his students will remember his incredible personality forever. If it's your kids

We have been with Unity Tae Kwon Do since our oldest was 6 or 7 years old. Now, he is 15. We now have a 1st and 2ND degree black belts through Unity. Our 3rd boy is very close to his black belt as well. We have 4 boys, and all 4 boys love Sky and his team. They are great with kids, and they made learning fun with great structure. Because of Sky and his team great quality instructions, we are continuing with this school year after year. I highly recommend Unity Tae Kwon to everyone who want to tryout martial art. Thank you to Sky and his team for all they did and continue doing for our boys:).

We started going to Unity when my son was 5 years old. I was amazed at how patient all of the instructors are, especially with the young ones. If someone tells you that 5 years old is too young to start Taekwondo, don't listen! My very active, restless boy was effectively taught all of the moves. I couldn't believe it when I saw him break his first board. Taekwondo helped him learn not just the sport, but how to follow a series of instructions and to control every movement of his body. He also learned discipline - the teachers are firm but not harsh, which is exactly what we needed. At the end

I first met Master Sky Wood 10 years ago when I was like 6 years old. I did TKD on and off for many periods since then, but each and every time it was always a friendly, encouraging learning experience and a first class martial arts school for people of all ages. The guys are great and the instructors from the top down are great awesome people !

Our kids took Tae Kwon Do at Unity Tae Kwon Do for six years. Our son was 6 years old when he started, and our daughter was 9. Unity was the best place we could have sent our kids to learn martial arts. Sky is really able to connect with kids, and make learning Tae Kwon Do (TKD) fun and exciting for kids. Over a six year period, our kids went from knowing nothing about martial arts to earning their 2nd degree black belts. The instructors at Unity are 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th degree black belts. Sky Wood and the other instructors, Masters Hackett, Koscinski, and Wade, at Unity had the ability to build

Amazing instructors that are always there for you and dedicated to training you. It's an amazing feeling to be able to leave your problems at the door when you enter the dojo. Instructors like Kyosanim Sky Wood and Master Hackett who push you to do better inside and outside the dojo and don't only become great instructors but great friends too. At Unity Taekwondo we are a family, we are United and build and grow together and there is truly no place better.

Unity TKD changed life for my 8 year old son. He had been practicing TKD in a program at school, and learned a few simple forms, but wasn't on any sort of plan relating to skills to advance or be able to compete. When a friend recommended Unity, we checked it out and I fell in love with it for him. Not only have his technical skills steadily improved since he started training there, his self confidence, his self control, and other intangibles that are a part of a true taekwondo practice have gone sky-high. (Pun intended, his teacher is Sky Wood, who does an amazing job with children of all
