Services
We believe that each child is a unique and special gift from God and that He plays a vital role in the development of each child. The dedicated and loyal staff of our Preschool share this belief and carry out our mission every day. We feel privileged and honored to participate in providing developmentally-appropriate and spiritual guidance to the children who are entrusted to us.
Our preschool is a mission of Makiki Christian Church and we are here to "Honor God by demonstrating His love to the children and families of our preschool." It is because of God's love and our commitment that the preschool exists.
I want to warmly welcome all families and children as we are excited to offer many opportunities for developing relationships as well as varied, stimulating and challenging learning experiences for children-and all within a safe, nurturing, and Christian environment.

We also offer a 6-week summer session during June and July for new and continuing students. Additional Preschool closures due to hazardous weather conditions may be determined by the Preschool Director as prompted by the Governor or Mayor. As a rule of thumb, if public schools are closed due to unsafe weather conditions, MCCP will likely close as well.
Please help your child to attend school regularly and to arrive on time. Classroom time begins at 8:00 a.m. We distinguish our Preschool from a daycare or drop-in program and, as such, require regular and on-time attendance. Children should arrive no later than 8:15 a.m. Please call and notify the school by 8:30 if you have appointments that would cause your child to be late for school.
We encourage you to provide nutritious lunch and snacks from home. Children need to wear flat footwear (no heels) that allows them to run and play safely and that can be easily slipped on and off. High-heeled shoes or sandals for girls are not permitted. Covered shoes are required on all excursions.

Wonderful caring staff that provide a safe, loving, and well-rounded curriculum. Pre-Covid, they had lots of great supplemental programs that come to the school for additional fees that go straight to the various providers. they not only provide a solid education on your child's ABCs & 123s, but provide a foretaste of what they should expect in Kindergarten, and thus are well prepared whether they enter private or public school. They also focus on making sure the child loves and enjoys coming to school to learn. They are also in tune with the social-emotional development of each child

My wife and I are so glad that we sent our son to this great preschool. The school foundation of a child is so important in shaping their lives. Our child now attends another good school and I am so grateful that we were able to have him go to Makiki Christian Preschool. From the awesome Director Sandy to all the wonderful teachers, they all contributed to my son's development. The facilities are not the greatest, however, what can you expect from an aging historic site? If anyone is looking for a top notch preschool to prep your child, this is the place to go.

I'm so happy that we chose this preschool for our child. Our family was approved for assistance through Patch Hawaii. Our next mission was to find an accredited preschool that fit our family schedule. MCCP was the first school we toured and knew immediately it was the one. I love the longer hours. The standard day is 8am-5pm I believe. I often pulled him out around 2pm. They feed your child breakfast, lunch and 2 snacks. Because my child was in the pre-k class, it was more of a school setting vs. a daycare. The facilities are kept clean and the teachers are all very friendly. The secretary

Fast forward 5 years from my initial reviews and my family precariously found ourselves in need of a preschool. Of course we went back to my oldest sons alma mater and not only did they welcome us with open arms but a lot of my sons old teachers and admin were still there and remembered us!
A lot of the things we enjoyed about MCCP remained the same but there were some slight changes from the years we weren't there. Like improved playgrounds, and tuition went up (no shocker there) but it now included the cost of all lunches and snacks. Which is awesome I think because it exposes and allows

We toured a few preschools in the Honolulu area and decided to enroll our daughter in Makiki Christian Preschool back in the summer of 2013. It was roughly around the same time that the preschool had a new director Ms. Sandy.
Now after two years, we can say that we are more than happy that our daughter started her school experience here. The director and all teachers here are loving and caring. They have taught our daughter good values (respecting and caring towards each other, good courtesy, etc.) and good hygiene habits (washing hands while singing the "washing hands" song, turning

I liked the school and the teacher my son was going to be with. The big turn down was that for the first day of class the parent has to stay with the child through out the day to see how she/he adapts to the new experience; which is totally understandable, but they didn't allow me to bring my 5 month old daughter with me. I explained to them i didn't have anyone else to watch her and my husband works a regular 8-5 job. Their answer to me was to come back to them when I was able to find a babysitter to watch my baby. Very disappointing ! I was so ready to enroll my son into the school

We toured various preschools in the Honolulu area & eventually decided on Makiki Christian Preschool.
Our daughter really likes it there. The new preschool director has implemented numerous improvements including a new website and Hawaii Early Learning Development Standards (HELDS) assessments to track each child's progress.
We like that the teachers are nurturing & friendly and teach the kids values (e.g. respecting others, loving one another). Because it's a small school, the teachers know all the kids' names. The teachers & director are accessible during pick

If I could put zero stars, I would. I don't know about the preschool itself, but my review is for the attentiveness and courtesy of the office admin. I had called numerous times to schedule an appointment for a tour of the school. after a few tries, the director (leilani) finally returns my call. unfortunately, I had missed her call and had to call her back...here we go again. I left her messages, spoke with her "assistant" (ellen?), if you could even call her that, etc. finally, the FOURTH time calling back, I asked ellen about why no one had returned my calls when all I wanted

We were with MCCP for a year. This preschool is for the most part quite OK. For the price you pay (About $680 a month - 2012), compared to many other schools, it's not expensive. The hours are from 7:30am-5:30pm. You can pay $3 on a daily basis if you want to bring your kid in at 7:00am. Note: This rule is quite strictly enforced, so don't attempt to sneak in because you will be confronted. There is no half-day option.
The teachers: I really liked the Orange Room and Red Room teachers. They were loving and caring. My kid learned a lot during his time there. There was sudden staff turnover

Before enrolling our daughter into this fabulous preschool, we took a tour. We were hooked. Not only are the kids in actual classrooms, but the kid ratio to teacher is great. We were going to wait to enroll her until she was potty trained, but she refused to do it. So we finally enrolled her into the 2 year old class where they potty train. After 2 months, she's finally potty trained and she will be moving to the orange room which is the 3 year old class. What's great about this preschool is that they don't have to keep making different friends because all their friends sooner
