Preventing dental caries, decay, requires some facts to build a healthy smile. A healthy smile helps build a happy heart. Prevention Preventing dental caries is easier than restoring decayed teeth.

CAUSE Decay is an infection of the teeth, so when one tooth decays the infection spreads to other teeth and they decay as well.

Services
A few days before your appointment, talk with your child about the visit in the same way you would talk about going to school. The visit will last over an hour. Your child will meet such friends as Mr. Mirror and Mrs. Sunshine and see how our cool tools work. Dr. McCorkle will count (examine) your child's teeth.
Dr. McCorkle and his wife, Gayle raised four boys. Dr. McCorkle grew up in Arlington, VA. He studied Electrical Engineering at Virginia Polytechnic State University. There, he received a BS degree and earned membership in HKN, an honorary electrical engineering society. He obtained his dental education at the Medical College of Virginia and received recognition for excellence by the American Society of Dentistry for Children.
Payment can be made by cash, check, Care Credit, MasterCard, Visa, Discover, or American Express. Some payment is expected at appointments as treatment progresses. Be sure to let us know when you have concerns about payment. We accept most insurance plans as a non participating provider. Be sure to bring both of your current dental and medical insurance cards.
Preventive Re-Care visits encourage healthy habits and attitudes to grow with healthy teeth, prevent decay, learn preventive dental care, and grow calm and brave. They allow us to find problems early and keep them from becoming extensive problems. Usually preventive visits are scheduled every six months.
Your child may drink, but do not permit eating until normal feeling returns which may be one or two hours. For primary tooth removal sites, a normal diet and cleaning efforts can resume when normal feeling returns. Sensitivity to hot or cold is normal for up to two weeks, if this persists or worsens please call us.

After going to several Childrens dental offices around the area where I truly felt this was mainly a business and nothing else I am so thankful we found Dr. McCorkle and his amazing staff. They are wonderful and my kids feel safe under the care of their staff they actually take the time to foster a relationship with them and make them feel comfortable. This means so much to me as a mom. Always friendly, kind and warm and that goes a long way. Thank you!

I can’t say enough great things about this office. From the front desk, to the techs, to Dr. McCorkle. My 11 year old chipped her front tooth over the weekend, after calling about 14 different dental offices, I got referred to Dr. McCorkle. I gave them a call YESTERDAY and they got me in this morning, considering my daughter was struggling to eat and was having some discomfort. We got there and everything moved so quickly. I wasn’t expecting her tooth to get fixed, but they did it. They Xrayed her, examine her mouth in great detail, and did the filling to get my baby back to as normal as possible

I can't say enough great things about Dr. McCorkles office. The staff is wonderful. They will address any and all concerns you have about your child. And take the time to personally get to know you and your family. Dr. McCorkle really takes his time to explain things which I love! Definitely recommend if your looking for a pediatric dentist. This is the place to be!

I have Three kids who come here for check up, they are ages between 11 and 19 . I love the way that not only my Middle School kids can get their check ups but my daughter who is in college can attend here as well, very convenient. They are great , very clean and organized. All my kids love it. Really recommend it.

Edit to add: Since I am not able to reply, I'd like to add, the office never contacted me regarding his records until after I had made this review. Once I did, I received a call within the hour. After the records were found, they called me right back and asked me to change my review, which I declined. It's pretty sad that it takes a negative review online to have an office look for your child's records.
This office is terrible. While the dentist was great, the hygienist/office manager was not. We left there because she has a terrible attitude towards people. She never sent over my son’s dental

My son has been a patient of Dr. McCorkle’s for over 16 years. They are the BEST! Everyone there is so friendly and helpful. They truly care about their patients and their families. We have had nothing but positive experiences every time he went. I highly recommend them if you’re looking for a pediatric dentist. We travel 45 minutes each way to get there, and it’s worth every mile! I wouldn’t have wanted anyone else to take care of his dental needs!

My 4 year old son was referred here by another dentist and I'm very glad that we brought him to see Dr. McCorkle. My husband and I brought our son and we felt extremely comfortable and most importantly, my son felt comfortable as well. Each and every nurse is so nice and they explain in detail the approach that's needed for treatment. I highly recommend Dr. McCorkle for treatment for other small children.
