We specialize in the Deva Curl method of cutting and highlighting. The Deva cut is a specialized way of cutting curly hair that focuses on the natural curl pattern. This is NOT a curl by curl cutting method. Providing barber services; cutting, trimming, shampooing, styling hair, trimming beards, or giving shaves.

The devacut is a special technique for cutting wavy, curly or super curly hair. DevaCurl is a nationally recognized leader in curly hair. All our stylist are DevaCurl trained in the specialized curling cutting and product knowledge. The "Deva" cut works for all types of curl from the slightly wavy to the tightest super curl.
Donna made a big career leap two years ago leaving the medical field with over 24 years of HR and Practice Management experience. Looking for something fun and exciting where she could make others look and feel good she started her "new career path" as an apprentice in the cosmetology world. Her and her husband's business goal were to own a salon - who knew that in two years they would reach that goal as the proud owners of Muse Hair Salons.

A friend of mine recommended this salon when we first moved to the area last spring. I've been getting Deva cuts and color from Kathryn since then and I absolutely love her. I was trimming my own hair for years because of my fear of the stylist messing up the curly cut. It definitely showed because my hair was so many different lengths. Haha! I have always gotten impeccable service here. I see Katt O and get a DevaCut, and she is amazing! She totally knows her stuff, and takes her time getting to know you and what you like, but also what your hair will naturally "do." And I really need that.
I also love that everyone is really friendly, and they offer beer/wine/coffee during your cut. It takes forever for my hair to dry, so while I'm waiting on that it's great to have a beverage and enjoy a really pleasant salon experience.

I’ve been going to this salon for about 4 years, back when this establishment was under Rudy & Kelly. I’ve been overwhelmed here lately, so I was wanting to have some self care time, to relax and get my hair done for my up and coming much needed vacation and that did not happen. The service I received was mentally exhausting and after being a 4 year customer, I will never return.

My second visit here. I got a full color this time. Honestly, I didn't really come in with a plan, but with Gloria's help she guided me to one. She's very professional and friendly. I love how my hair came out!! Highly recommend, they know how to take care of curly hair.

Katt was absolutely amazing ! She explained everything she was doing step by step which made me feel so comfortable. I allowed her to have free reign on my haircut because it’s been so long and she exceeded my expectations and told me how to get my hair back healthy.

My hair stylist Gloria was fabulous!!! I asked for the "Covid Cut"... as I haven't had my haircut in over 6 months. She turned my waves into curls and gave me a few tips on how to manage the curls better. I will be back. I highly recommend Gloria. A big thank you to Jasmine and the manager at MUSE Salon!!!!

Kathryn was great, and very quick, especially considering I had a LOT to cut off (but she still did amazing work!). I have wavy to curly hair, and she was extremely knowledgeable about how to handle it. This was my first curly specific cut, and I was very pleased and will definitely be back. Oh, and the front desk receptionist was lovely to deal with as well; Very calm and relaxed environment.

I was hesitant to try someone new for my Deva cuts but when driving home just for haircuts with my last stylist was no longer an option, I searched through Yelp/Google Reviews before booking an appointment with Katt Orr and I am so thrilled to have found her.

I came to Muse Hair Salon to get a devacut by Katt W. who asked me my concerns with my hair, my hair is dyed and is very curly so I wanted to get rid of the dead ends and straight pieces that occurred since I hadn't gotten my hair cut in 7 months. My hair is super curly and thick so it took an hour and a half just for the dry cut, I really appreciated that Katt took her time to cut my hair even when another appointment came in. Donna ended up washing my hair and was very friendly. I had to leave my appointment while my hair was drying for work they sent me off with all the products they used

After arguing with myself about getting a DevaCut for a few months I finally buckled down and drove the 30 minutes to Muse Salon. I had my hair appointment with Kathy and was not disappointed at all! I went in not knowing what style I wanted, only knowing that I wanted to learn how to style my curls and make them more manageable. I'm new to embracing my curls so I didn't know where to start. Oh man.. okay, I am only giving them a 2 star because my first experience was amazing. I had Katt and she was so sweet and did an amazing job with my first DevaCut. The reason for the low rating is off my second DevaCut. My mom made the appointment but mistakenly made it with Kathryn instead of Katt. Everything seemed to be going great, I asked for a "trim" and bangs. She did the dry cut and it seemed okay.. until my hair got wet and I saw the damage...A MULLET. I had a MULLET. After I left the dryer she tried to even it out which required CHOPPING my hair off... She even asked my advice

After months of research, I decided to take the plunge and go for the famed devacut. The closet deva salon to me was Muse salon. My stylist was nice and friendly. I showed her 3-4 pics of what i wanted and we talked about my current routine. She sifted through my hair and started cutting. She then washed my hair and put me under the dryer. When my hair was dry, she seemed surprised at how short it was and pulled down on my hair in an attempt to stretch it out. She told me that she didn't expect my hair to shrink up as much as it did. Received a great haircut from Kathy. Very grateful there are a few people who know what to do with curly hair. However, they are overcharging the curly hair community for a haircut. $116 to cut shoulder length hair. It took less than 45 minutes in total. I'm sure the salon can come up with several reasons why they charge that but to me it comes down to a haircut with a wash and dry with DevaCurl products. I don't think it's fair that the curly hair community has to pay that much for a haircut. Some may say the price is worth it but it's just my opinion. So if you want

I went to see Kat for a Deva cut and I was pretty skeptical about the whole thing cause honestly, I've never been to a salon in VA before (I'm in the navy and from NYC) I am Latin with thick curly hair so usually, it's not simple to find someone who can manage my hair but Kat did amazing!!! I absolutely loved each step of the process... she was very careful and professional... she told me about everything that she used (Deva products) and showed me step by step what I should do to style it after washing it. It's a bit pricy but honestly, the price does not hurt at all knowing

So I had seen all over social media how deva cuts were the most amazing things since sliced bread for curly hair. Naturally, I was extremely excited for a haircut specifically designed for my wild mop. What I got was the worst haircut of my life. I now have a mullet with bangs that are choppier than the Atlantic Ocean. It's been about 2 weeks and I still cant look at my hair in the mirror without bursting into tears.
