Services
Helen's Place Photography began life in 1990 as Colonial Photography in Williamsburg's Merchants Square. In 1998, Helen's Place Photography moved to the countryside just outside of Williamsburg. Here, we maintain a large indoor studio with a floor-to-ceiling fireplace, a spiral staircase, and lots of backdrops and props.
We love to make families happy by taking their portraits and then helping them select the ones they'll place on their walls at home. We love it when you bring your pets along, and we also love taking large family reunion photos. We have a large portrait park, the only one of its kind in this area, filled with delightful settings and well-tended gardens.
Everyone loves a Helen's Photography portrait session. That's because we know how to bring out the real you - the comfortable you, the happy you, the amazing you. As you might expect, the length of a portrait session can vary - anywhere from under half an hour to an hour or two. For weddings, family reunions, and corporate events, we provide day rates so we can stay as long as you need us.
When it's time to select your favorite photos, you'll do it with one of our photographers. We can advise you about any necessary cropping and retouching. If you need us to, we can post your photos online. Then, we can talk about each of your selections as well as framing and digital delivery, if requested.

We had an amazing experience with Helen’s Place Photography. Our son was very anxious and pretty much done with the whole deal when it came to our turn for Santa pictures but they completely turned him around! Our pictures came out amazing and he was not afraid of Santa at all. They really worked their magic on him and we are so thankful. Our family will have this amazing memory forever! Thank you ❤️

I am so excited to report that we had an excellent session with Helen and her two assistants last Saturday. I have a five year old and a one year old. I would definitely recommend Helen for children's photographs. Her calm demeanor sets the children at ease. It was a great experience that started off in the playroom and ended in the beautiful garden's outside. Daniel and Noah were awesome assistants that helped keep the kids smiling. I pick up my pictures on Tuesday, I will let you know how they turned out!
