There is an old joke that bankruptcy lawyers have one answer to every problem: bankruptcy. The stereotype is all too often true: most people who file bankruptcy never get a chance to sit down with their lawyer and discuss non-bankruptcy options for getting out of debt. And that can mean a tragic loss of opportunity and dollars.
Did you know that a large portion of debt collection lawsuits are invalid, and the only reason they ever win judgments is because the people being sued don't know their rights? If you've been sued by a collector, you may think that you don't have a chance, but that simply isn't true. Very often, they don't have the documents to prove their case.
Did you know that approximately 76% of all credit reports contain errors? When credit bureaus report false account information, it can damage your credit rating and cost you thousands in higher interest rates, credit denials, and lost opportunities. Federal law requires that credit reporting agencies report accurately, but they often fail to do so.
Unlike, say, banks or credit card companies, they're less regulated, less likely to have permanent locations, staff, and assets, and dominated by a profits-first mentality that tolerates ripping people off and lying to them, and sometimes even encourages it. To make matters worse, arbitration clauses are almost always upheld in auto sales contracts, so many of the worst offenses never see a jury.

Judson Crump helped me save my home. I am definitely glad that he has been my lawyer through this Chapter 13 process.
