When strolling down the Seine, you stumble upon a charming bistro, the scent of fresh baguettes wafting out of the cozy kitchens and into the street. Patroned by writers, artisans and the simple folk that frequent the morning markets, Parisian bistros feature seasonal menu items that reflect the freshest available ingredients.
Le Troquet, a new addition to Albuquerque's fine dining scene, is akin to the finest bistros of Paris. Chef Jean Pierre's main attribute-other than his talent for concocting delicious dishes featuring rich sauces that enhance the delicate flavors of his ingredients-is his humility. In fact, he won't even say he's the "best chef, " though clearly, after launching five successful restaurants in Albuquerque, he has earned the right to that moniker.

Imparting the flavors of the ocean, fresh mussels, wild-caught sea scallops and ruby red trout also set the mood for a romantic fine dining experience. I love French food and Le Troquet has all the classics. Escargot, moules, pate and the piece de resistance, filet en croute (steak in puff pastry). My husband claims the seafood options are delicious as well but I can never bring myself to try anything new as the filet is already perfection. I have my birthday dinner here every year and I am never disappointed.

Just great. It's a small quaint place where every now and then the chef comes out to greet the guests and the food is absolutely perfect. The server welcomed us, told us about the specials and was very knowledgeable about the food which is new to a lot of people. I tried the seafood crepe. Such a delicate flavours finely put together. The other entree we tried was the beef Bourguignon. A little sharper flavour than the creamy seafood. With a smooth res wine finish. Great.

Adorable hole in the wall french cafe. You can tell the staff takes pride in their food, everything I had was delicious and unique. Their menu is limited but impressive. Every bite I took was better than the last. I definetly will be back. The strawberry crepe was unlike any other crepe. You could taste each ingredient, including the sweet creme.

Had been to Le Troquet before Covid and it was good. Went again last night and it was great. Prices have gone up significantly, but only in line with other restaurants in town, and the quality has gone up to match. Trout Almandine was outstanding. Can’t wait to go back. Definitely reserve. It’s a small space.

The mussels were our favorite dish of the night. The sole was amazing as well as the escargot, the creme brûlée and the other meringue dessert (which I can’t remember the name of). Chef Jean Pierre is the… perfect chef to host any special occasion you might have or just because it’s some random Thursday. The atmosphere brings to mind a small French cafe on the back streets of Paris. Food is fresh, affordable, and made with love and care.
