Meaningful memorialization of a loved one's passing can transform, heal, and comfort us. It highlights our loved ones' sacrifices, reminds us of the things that they value, and inspires us with their life stories. Have the Talk of a Lifetime, a program created by The Funeral and Memorial Information Council, was designed to help families have meaningful conversations about the things that matter most in their lives.
The basic Military Funeral Honors (MFH) ceremony consists of the folding and presentation of the United States flag to the veterans' family and the playing of Taps. The ceremony is performed by a funeral honors detail consisting of at least two members of the Armed Forces. The Funeral Honors rendered to you or your veteran will be determined by the status of the veteran.
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) furnishes upon request, at no charge to the applicant, a Government headstone or marker for the unmarked grave of any deceased eligible veteran in any cemetery around the world, regardless of their date of death. When the grave is already marked, applicants will have the option to apply for either a traditional headstone or marker, or a new device (available spring 2009).

My father passed yesterday. My sister and I are the only family he has. Neither of us are wealthy nor were we prepared for the expense as his death came suddenly and as a surprise. After being charged 5x the average cremation cost at another facility, Serenity came to our rescue. They were kind, caring, compassionate and fair. The funeral director, Kendrick, was wonderful. He explained everything perfectly, detailed all the fees and made us feel comfortable. I was able to spend time with my father prior to leaving and they even let me write his Obituary myself, which I will forever cherish. In

Serenity Funeral Home is the place to use for your loved one's needs. Kendrick is a very humble christian man and made us feel very welcome during this time of my husbands father's passing. Me and my husband have never had to do this before and Kendrick was so very patient and understanding with us. He even said a message at our service when we had no one to use. Ken Mack and Serenity Funeral Home did an amazing job with my grandmother. She looked as if she was peacefully sleeping. My children were at peace being able to see their great-grandmother look of herself. The whole family was at ease. Great job! If i could give 10 stars i would. I have many medical issues and had been to several other funeral homes before I found Serenity Funeral Home. When I left I had no doubts about who would take care of me. The Director was very personable and caring and explained every thing I needed to know. Most important he was respectful of my wishes and did not try to "encourage " me to take a service that I didn't want. How refreshing from the others that try to "sell" you more than you want.
