Sub Acute unit is a Specialized Unit within Skilled Nursing Facility, with its own Medical Director and its own Nursing Manager. Sub Acute unit is staffed separately including, RNs, LVNs, CNAs and Respiratory Therapists. Most patients are with a lung failure requiring tracheostomy and majority of them on Ventilator.
Newport Sub-acute Healthcare Center offers skilled nursing services administered by professional registered and licensed practical nurses. Nursing care services are procured under a physician's recommendation or orders. We will work closely with you, your physician and other health providers to create a home health plan and to coordinate your care for a smooth transition in the home.
Physical therapy involves rectifying the impairments and disabilities of the client's physical body through examination, diagnosis and physical interventions. Occupational therapy involves using treatments and exercise programs to recover, develop or maintain the skills of people with mental, physical or developmental impairment or condition.
Newport Sub-acute Healthcare Center provides palliative programs, pain management services, and family support as part of our end-of-life care. When getting a cure is no longer an option, our hospice services focus on the patient's comfort, manage the occurrence of symptoms as much as possible, and help alleviate the pain so they could make the best of each day together with the people close to their heart.

My mother was in this facility for about a year and a half. She required 24/7 care. The staff was committed to doing what they could to help her. The aids were personally committed to doing the best job that they could. The nurses were excellent. There were aids who would clear my mother if she had a bowel blockage due to constipation at any hour, sometimes in the middle of the night. That’s dedication. The staff was emotionally committed to my mother’s well being. I’m grateful for everything they did for her there. It might not look glamorous, but the folks who work there truly care about

Recently my Mom was admitted to this facility to recover from a stroke. The level of care that she received here was amazing. Despite the restrictions on visitation due to covid: the staff here made my family feel that our Mother was being well taken care of. They never made us feel out of touch with her even though we couldn’t physically be with her. They took every precaution to keep her safe. And I credit her swift recovery to the exceptional care she received while here. The nursing staff was kind and caring. They answered all of our questions. The dr. First night here and I can already tell you that the reviews were right. It smells like a mix of old urine and BO. It takes them nearly an hour to answer a call light. In fact, I had to go online, look up the phone number, and call them to let them know I needed the nurse. The person who answered was rude and trying to get them to answer any questions you have is like pulling teeth, as if they've got secrets to hide. The administrator I met was cold piece of work, definitely uninterested in having to deal with you and couldn't care less whether you had any concerns. The nursing staff feel paperwork
