Mencius is Confucius' most famous student and a revered scholar in Chinese history. A philosopher and teacher, he is also the author of numerous classic poems in Chinese literature. Mencius Mandarin Preschool is an English-Mandarin Chinese bilingual preschool located in the heart of Greenwich, Connecticut.
It serves children ages 2 to 5 years old, and does not require that its students have prior knowledge of Mandarin Chinese. Our school admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin - as long as they are willing to learn Mandarin Chinese! Founded in 2009, the school is non-sectarian and is licensed by the state of Connecticut.

Services
Because Mandarin Chinese is a tonal language and bears no resemblance to Latin-derived languages (including English), it is widely considered to be three or four times harder to learn than French or Spanish.
Our mission at Mencius Mandarin preschool is to serve as a first step in exposing preschool-aged children to this difficult-to-learn language, at a time when children's brains are at an "advantageous window" for absorbing new sounds and tones.

Classes are daily M-F, 8:45am - 11:45am, Sept to Jun (optional extended hours till 1:45pm available daily). Mandarin Chinese Teacher/Administrative Director is certified in Childcare Management by New York University and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Harvard University (B.A. in economics). Complexity of Mandarin Chinese language makes it essential for instruction to start as early as possible in life, with lessons as frequently as possible.
Irene and her family founded Mencius Mandarin Preschool in 2009 to provide a formal setting where her children could learn Mandarin Chinese from a young age. She received her B.A. in economics from Harvard University where she was also elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She was a Rhodes Scholarship finalist.
Our daughter's Mandarin has made significant progress. In two months of learning in your school during the summer, she is now conversing with us fluently in Mandarin at home. She also sings Mandarin children's songs every day and even teaches me her songs. I am absolutely delighted. Thank you for all your hard work and loving nurture in taking care of every child.
Classes are daily from Monday to Friday, 8:45am-11:45am, optional extended hours until 1:45pm available daily. All class conversations are held in Mandarin. There are at least two Mandarin-speaking teachers per class. Summer program (June and July) runs daily M-F, 9am-12pm. 3. Upon application acceptance, an enrollment packet that includes the contract and health forms will be mailed to parents.
