Services
Altavista Animal Hospital was established in the early 1960's. In 1988, with excitement and a passion for helping animals and owners, Dr. Bullins purchased the practice. After working as a solo veterinarian for 5 years, the practice had grown to the extent that another veterinarian was required. Dr. Stephanie Chmiel came on board at that time.
Our focus on preventive care, regular examinations and owner education helps keep our cat and dog patients in good health. Our goal is to prevent disease and detect disease conditions early in their course when they can best be treated. Vaccinations, testing for intestinal worms, heartworm testing with treatment and prevention are recommended and available on site.

I just want to thank the veterinarians and staff at Altavista Animal Hospital for their kind and compassionate care! We lost our beloved Lab, Kimber, at 13 years old just two days after this Christmas. The support they gave us and Kimber is greatly appreciated and not unnoticed! They gave her such dignity at the end of her life and gave us comfort during such a difficult time for our family. We are thankful for their care!

Our pets have been going to Altavista Animal Hospital for about 20 years. We and our pets have loved the vets and the staff. They're thoughtful, caring, kind and always concerned. I wanted to say this because right now one of our cats has several issues, where medication for one condition might worsen another condition. All the doctors have been so careful trying to help the cat, Sam, but not set off other problems. Just want them all to know we appreciate them.💖

Very happy with the recent care of 2 of my (dog) babies. Great care was taken with my little dog who has seizure issues and needed his dental cleaning. He came through with flying colors! Also, Dr. B has… really worked with us to get his seizures under control. And prompt care for my girl suffering with an infection. Back to herself in less than 24hrs. I've been a happy customer for a number of years.

Please do not take your pet to this groomer or the vet's office that she is located in. They have hurt my poor Goldendoodle Sully and then lied about it. His face is covered in bruises and his right eye has hemorrhaged very badly. I dropped Sully off there at 8:45am for a bath and haircut. By 5pm, I hadnt heard anything so I called to check on him… and they told me he was absolutely fine. When I picked him up the groomer told me he had an "allergic reaction to the cleaner they use on the clippers" I saw clipper burn and bruising all along his snout and then noticed the terrible state of
