At the recommendation of our general contractor, we commissioned Astech Engineering to assist with what we thought was overall planning of our back yard deck and dock. Soon after, the dock was taken out of project scope, with no reduction in fees. Our stated objective up front was to evaluate options and associated costs so we could make the right decision according to our budget. We were under the impression that Astech fees were for design & layout ideas and to provide plans and assistance as needed when final decisions were made throughout project completion. Not the case.
