Old North State was born in the 1980's by a man named Bill Strope. Bill created this company with a wheel barrow, a shovel, and a handful of dirt. When ONS first started out, it was no more than a small landscaping and maintenance company providing services to the community. Since the creation of the company more than 40 years ago, ONS has become an organization and family of skilled craftsmen, designers, and administration.
Old North State was established on the foundation of four main values: honesty, accountability, knowledge, and a hard work ethic. These values reverberate with all levels of employees, from our owners to our laborers. We strive to give the customer the highest level of this service, quality, and value, which has and always will be our most important element in our relationship with our clients.

Services
We are dedicated to providing our clients with the highest possible quality. We are committed to every project and focused on exceeding our client's expectations to create their paradise. We bring luxury to you. Transform the exterior landscape of your home with Old North State Landscape Development.
You've had a vision of what you want out of a landscaping project for a long time, maybe even looked at a few luxury pool or design magazines. You deserve a company that'll go above and beyond on the project of your dreams. Old North State will do just that-we're as excited about your project as you are, maybe even more.
The driving factor to this entire property was to create a formal landscape that brought in elements of stone to enhance the property. Entertaining was another key factor of this space. The main focus of this project was to be one with nature. This mountain lodge style home was tucked into a surround of trees.
The formal gardens are divided into distinct spaces and surround the entire house. Lush and evocative plants brimming with color, texture, and aroma grow year round, creating a natural harmony that frames the house and shapes the property. Evergreen spiral topiaries and boxwoods, as well as thirty foot magnolias and American hollies were planted around the perimeter to discourage conversations over the back fence.
In North Carolina, it can be a challenge incorporating modern structures and elements to a very rustic and traditionally "NC Style." When ONS arrived, the pool and walls around the pool were already installed, so we had to get creative in how to incorporate a modern cabana.
By keeping the bar and fireplace in the same stone but pulling in modern elements such as a modern aluminum grilling cabinet and porcelain tile flooring we achieved a beautiful synchronicity.

I can not say enough positive things about this company. From our first experience with Whitney and Will and the rest of the crew our experience was Outstanding! We had a massive backyard project from landscaping to poured patio and stone work to electrical and plumbing, you name it, they did it. Quality of work and customer service including communication was second to none. Can't wait to find more projects for them to do.

We had a tremendous drainage problem on our property, which is on a fairly steep hill. Rain would cause running water down the gravel driveway we share with our neighbor, to the point where the ruts were deep enough to do damage to our vehicles, and her front walkway was routinely flooded. We also realized that getting from our driveway to our front door would be impossible if we were injured or in a wheelchair, because the driveway is 10 feet higher, with the only acsess a stone stairway. Old North State did a wonderful job solving both problems. The drainage has held up beautifully to the torrential
