We focus on providing the highest quality medical and surgical services for your companion animals. We understand the special role your pet plays in your family and are dedicated to becoming your partner in your pet's health care.
Quality care for cats, dogs, and pocket pets in Portage, WI and the surrounding communities. Diagnostic imaging allows our veterinarians to look at your pet internally for clues about sickness or injury. Preventive care and nutritional recommendations for rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs and other small pets.
Portage Veterinary Clinic offers preventive care and services for kittens, puppies, cats, and dogs. Bringing your pet to one of our veterinarians for a physical exam is the smartest and easiest way to keep them healthy. Exams allow our veterinarians to detect problems and diseases that might go undiscovered otherwise, including heart murmurs, tumors, enlarged organs, cataracts, ear infections, ear mites, dental disease, skin issues and allergies.
Diagnostic imaging allows us to examine your pet's internal organs and body systems to better diagnose their conditions. There are different types of diagnostic imaging and the type your pet needs will depend on their symptoms and the affected area of the body. With the shared goal of successful recovery, our team of experienced veterinarians works together to return your pet to good health.
Dental care is an essential part of your pet's overall health. When oral hygiene is neglected, pets can develop dental disease which negatively affects other systems in the body and may lead to tooth loss. A pet's dental health is just as important as their physical health, however, it often goes overlooked.

We have been customers of Portage Veterinary Clinic for years. Many puppies and kitties that they have helped us raise. They have always been there for us and our pets even in some hard times. Dr. Cooper has been a wonderful and caring veterinarian and friend. The staff is very special to us!!! They are knowledgeable and you can tell they love what they do. That is helping us and our loveable furry babies. Thanks to all of you!!!! Nancy and Mark Meekma

I took my dog in to have Shots. When we were done we walked to the counter to pay. My dog was pulling towards the door quite hard so I only had one hand to work with. I pulled a 100 dollar bill out of my wallet and thought it would cover it. It ended up being 138 so I set my 100 on the counter and tried to get my card out of my wallet. I couldn’t get it with one hand since my dog was pulling so I handed my whole wallet to the lady and she took it out for me. She put it in the card reader and everything. When done she handed me the receipts which was hard to hold with how hard my dog was pulling

Our dog recently had surgery. When scheduling the surgery I was asked which vet would I like to do the surgery. I had indicated Dr. Cooper as he has been the one treating her.
The follow up call was from another vet and the paperwork showed another vet performed her surgery. Why ask who I want if you will just change it up without notifying me? I know all of the vets there are great and take wonderful care of our babies. A little communication would have gone a long way. No one ever told me that he wasn’t going to do the surgery.
The care we received was great I just wish communication was

They fit me in even though they were booked solid. They have big hearts! They treated my very nervous little 6 lb. dog gently and calmly. Dr. Cooper was very informative and skilled with the treatments my dog had to get. I can tell he loves what he does. The techs and other doctors are sweet and helpful too. Thank you for a great experience!

I can’t thank Dr Schumacher and staff for the kindness, compassion and empathy they gave my family and I throughout our dog Jake’s life. Jake was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer recently and we appreciated how the news was given to us and ultimately how everything was handled when we made the decision to put Jake to sleep. I highly recommend using this vet for any and all your pet care needs. We will be eternally grateful for you all💜🐶.
