Our Director and owner, Dawn Speciale had a life-long dream to create a loving environment where children can grow, laugh, and reach their highest potential. Dawn's journey in the field of early childhood began as an assistant preschool teacher at the Creative Academy of Learning in 1980. Soon after, she enrolled in Pasadena City College with a focus on Early Childhood Development and was later promoted to Head Teacher in the preschool classroom.
Our infant program offers care to children ages 6 to 18 weeks. Activities provided to the children include: being held during feedings, being rocked to sleep, verbalizing throughout the day, listening to music, sensory experiences, and outdoor time. Personal, warm, and consistent care is the core of the care we provide to our little ones.
Our toddler program offers care for children beginning at 18 months. Parents can choose from a full time schedule (Monday through Friday) a 2 day schedule (Tuesday and Thursday), or a 3 day schedule (Monday, Wednesday, Friday). The curriculum is tailored to the unique needs of toddlers with many hands-on experiences to help children understand the world they are living in.
The classroom has a maximum capacity for 15 children with a 1:8 teacher to student ratio. We use a research-based curriculum and on-going coaching to continuously improve the overall quality of the preschool program. Small class sizes allow for extra attention for each child. The center provides 2 snacks and lunch to all children (lunch brought in by parents).
Subsidized child care and education programs offer no-cost and low-cost financial assistance for parents and guardians. Hands On Fun Preschool & Infant Center supports non-profit and state subsidized child care and educational programs. We are approved by the programs listed below. Crystal Stairs is one of the largest private, nonprofit child care and child development agencies in California.
