Leap & Bound Academy
Leap and Bound Academy has daycare competitive programs for children too young for school. We can provide full potty training to keep your child safe and clean. Call for more details. This preschool is more than a daycare. In a safe, engaging environment full of love and care, we give our students academic skills leaps and bounds ahead of the mainstream.

Leap and Bound Academy has Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten classes in three locations in the South Bay. Our children are well prepared for all the challenges of first grade well in advance. Our classrooms and other play areas feature only child-safe and age-appropriate equipment. We regularly clean and sanitize the facility, including the classrooms, equipment, and play area.
Services
Our classrooms and other play areas feature only child-safe and age-appropriate equipment. We regularly clean and sanitize the facility, including the classrooms, equipment, and play area. We serve food fresh and with industry-standard sanitary measures. On the occasion that a child does get sick, we send them home for their protection and the protection of others.
The Torrance preschool is the original Leap & Bound Academy, serving the Seaside area since 2003. Leap & Bound Academy - Torrance was remodeled in 2015. Ms. Mary joined LBA as a teacher at first. She has over twenty (20) years of experience working specifically in preschools, and has spent the last (10) with us.
Leap & Bound Academy - Torrance-Walteria is part of the multi-business complex on Hawthorne, just north of Pacific Coast Highway. Ms. Susan supervises the work of other employees, and counsels them whenever they need to solve a problem. Ms. Inoka loves the opportunity to give her kids an education that will change their lives - an education that will help them leap to success later on.
Ever since Mr. Chase was 13 years old, he knew he was going to be a leader. Mr. Chase enjoys being able to work with others on new ideas to create a better learning environment for the children while, at the same time, ensuring that everyone is working as a team. You can say it is one big juggling act.
Ms. Michelle provides a great example of the academic focus that Leap & Bound is known for. Her focus on communication sets up her students with lifelong skills. Ms. Michelle keeps her class organized and regimented to make sure the lessons are really taken in. Ms. Michelle has over twnety-five (25) years of experience, plenty enough to see her students grow and mature, and to see the impacts of different teaching styles.

Our daughter has been at LBA since she was 3 years old. We finished up Kindergarten during one of the most stressful years. In June of 2021 our family decided to move out of state and I had no idea what to expect academically, but I have to give credit where credit is due. I met with our daughters teacher regarding her academics and she asked where she went to school. So I told her. She then replied that she had amazing teachers and the curriculum was spot on. She then proceeded to tell me that she was pleasantly surprised that our daughter was at a 2nd grade level in Math and reading and

We just finished the last three years at LBA and my wife & I can't say how appreciative we are for them. During the last few years of uncertainty they were a rock of stability for us. Our son has grown so much and benefited from his time here. The staff is fantastic and really cares for the future of the child. We will forever be grateful for our experience Ms Alexis, Ms DeJahnea and Ms Natasha.

First of all I would like to thank for all teachers that work hard for this great school!! I have 2 boys (3yrs and 5yrs) in this school now and both of my kids just loves it so much! My oldest son was used to be in the different location of this school which he wasn't as much happy as he is now and he looks much happier after we transferred him into the current Hawthorn Walteria location.

I personally want to thank Ms. Natasha and Ms. DeJahnae ~ thank you for understanding and being patient with my oldest son even when he was having a focus issue. Mr. Hunter~my son loves your STEAM program

The teachers & Managements at LBA are absolutely brilliant. The team is very thoughtful and proactive, always giving the priority for the kids to enjoy their school life. The facilities are kept very clean, the wall with various works done by the kids is frequently updated. My boy loves his teacher & classmates, he tell us everyday about what he learned, what he made, and who he played with. It's been almost 2 years since he joined, we are very happy we chose LBA.

Terrible school. It's more like a day care then a school. Before covid i loved ms Adriana she was structured and amazing. Also ms Denise. All the quality staff unfortunately left. If your child doesn't nap anymore forget about this school. They get very pissy when your child wants to play instead of nap. I got called 3 days in a town to pick my daughter up ASAP. The teacher ms Alexis was nice. Ms lily was ok... now attending another that we LOVE!

I was very disappointed with our short enrollment at this location. Once I got nickel and dimed by what seemed like a selective drop off policy, it soured me on keeping my little one here. I can understand the importance of an early drop off and late pick up policy, but being charged $15 for being 1 and 2 minutes early of our 8:30 drop off is beyond ridiculous?! 8:28 and 8:29 smh. Mind you, the drop off process includes a face scan to enter, washing of hands, making your way to the class area, putting food items into your kids cubby then coming to the front for a temperature scan before you leave

I have received no email. No correspondence whatsoever in regards to stopping you from charging me and removing my daughter from the school. Again, I ask what do you need?

This was a phone conversation. There were no kids present at the time, including mine - so stating that I cursed in front of children is a lie. I did tell your staff this was BS, which it is.

I called you on Friday morning, after receiving YOUR policy changes. You still insisted that I had to pay for next week. I was told I would receive an email re: taking my daughter out of the school and I received nothing. That is why

We moved into Torrance area last year and were searching for a preschool for my son who is 4years now. I was very impressed with the school with respect to safety, staff and overall focus towards development of the child. Fast forward to today, I cannot be more happy and thankful to the school and teachers. I see a lot of improvement in my child socially as well as academically.

His class teacher Ms.Inoka has been instrumental in shaping him. Ms. Inoka is very patient with the kids and understands that every child is different and gives complete attention. She ensures that the child feels secure

Moving to a new town means the need to transfer to a new school and I must say I dreaded for that day to come..... until I stumbled upon L&B Torrance Walteria!

I met Ms Denise during my appointment (I had no option but to bring my 2 children along and she brought out toys to keep them busy so we can get down to business) she's very professional, sweet and genuine... which is why I was drawn to returning.

Having said that my daughter comes from a half-day play based school, I was worried about the transition and wasn't sure how she would do. She was enrolled FT in Ms Alexis&apos

My son began attending Leap and Bound in Oct 2018 and I can't say enough great things about the program. My son has grown so much over the last year; socially, emotionally and academically. The staff is awesome. Whenever I had a question or issue about anything, they were always committed to helping ease my mind and do what was best for my son. I will miss all of the teacher's but especially Ms Inoka. She helped my son so very much in writing and math, ensuring that he will be successful in Kindergarten. Thank you all..

On paper, it looks good. I was not very impressed with the set up, most especially the lack of privacy for the bathroom. I'm too sure as to what the rationale was or this, but as a parent, I do not find it acceptable.

It also didn't sit well with me when I was told that the venue my child was going to was a different location. I guess their revEnue quotas hasn't been filled yet at the the location.

Overall, I didn't feel like this is a place for learning.

The place was packed and the teachers gave the impression that they were having a long day.

It didn't help that the owner was condescending. I didn't bother asking any questions as I just wanted to bolt out of the place.

There's a number of good schools out there. unfortunately, this is not one of them.

I brought my son here when he was 2 and we just love it here. There is a true sense of community and caring between the children, the caregivers and other families that come here. The location is beautiful. There is a chef onsite that cooks wonderful lunches. My son has food allergies, and the teachers have always been understanding and accommodating. We love the mix of all nationalities, it is truly a multi-cultural place. They have a great check-in/check-out system - we always feel safe. Plenty of parking. Safe, friendly area. They do diapering and help with potty training when the time comes

I am a teacher and know good schools when I see one. This preschool is very poor. Our experience was terrible and we pulled our daughter out. Her diaper was frequently unchanged after an 8 hour day resulting in terrible skin rash. High teacher turnover. Poor management. Our daughter cried and begged not to go every morning. Moved to another preschool and she is as happy as a lark.

Our son and daughter have been attending Leap & Bound for a year now and we couldn't be happier. To start, the facility is one clean, large open space, with classrooms separated only by bookcases. Lots of natural light and space for our young ones to learn and play. They serve hot meals for lunch every day, provide potty training (successful for both kids, btw),host sports and dance programs, fun themed days every month, and emphasize frequent and thorough hand washing (so important for kids this age). Within a few days, every teacher knows your child's name so you feel at ease

Great school and childcare service. My daughter has been going here for 2 years and has developed in so many positive ways. I would definitely recommend it to my friends and family or anyone looking for childcare services. We love her current teacher Mrs. Daneisha! She is kind, caring and compassionate. Thank you for all you have done for our daughter.

My experience with LBA is great. I was lucky to have Ms Shama as my daughter's teacher. My daughter was struggling with separation anxiety at the beginning, with Ms Shama she felt home and was able to adapt the new environment. Ms Shama has a wonderful personality, she is so friendly, warm and amazing teacher. My daughter now knows how to write all the letters with phonics sound. The school and the staffs are great. Thanks LBA. Special Thanks to Ms Marry.

I took a tour of this facility and this location is beautiful. I really liked the entrance and the sense of tranquility. The director/manager was also very sweet and helpful.

The director showed me the class my daughter would be in. Everything seemed great until I noticed the teacher looked miserable and overwhelmed. I understand kids are a lot to deal with but it was barely 8 am. My daughter immediately grabbed a toy where the kids were and a little girl tried to hit her. Kids always hit each other that's nothing new; but what bothered me was that the teacher didn't even notice. That

It takes someone special to be an educator, a person who cares for others, and aims to help students grow to their fullest potential. The best teachers are capable, dedicated and hardworking, along with having an interest in making a substantial difference in the future of children.
We wanted to give "Thanks", to Ms. Dinah! Because of you and your help... our son can READ. He's only been at your school for more than 3 months and he's learning so much.
It's truly been a blessing having him attend Leaps & Bounds.

My daughter has been attending here for 7 months now, and it's been an amazing experience for us all. We were in desperate need for childcare and Ms Kendra welcomed us and reassured us that Marley would be well taken care off. The school is safe!! they provide a safe environment where we can see right off how the kids are watched closely every second. That gave me so much peace of mind. The best part is that our daughter has flourished academically and socially. She learned so much so fast! All the teachers love her & they are all

First off I'd like to say yay me for being the 1st person to right a review on this Leap and Bound location. Okay okay, straight to the point.
I decided to move my son from the P.V. Location to this one for numerous reasons. I really won't get into that but let's point out the Pro's and Con's of this Hawthorne location.

Pro's:
Clean
Comfortable environment with AC (even though we don't need it with the lovely beach breeze)
Academically challenged
Well organized
Affordable
Great hours for working parents
Fun
Personal Chef (Jose) who makes healthy warm lunches
