Clean shop. Nice people. Family friendly. Mani-pedi took almost 2 hours and was a bit pricer that expected but it felt and looked great

Love Alicia and Natalie! They did such an excellent job and really follow all the covid measures. They took care of me and listened to what I wanted and executed it beautifully. Highly recommend this place for hair cuts and color!

Hair491 has the best staff! Salon is clean and followed covid guidelines. Discovered them on an Instagram ad, and it was the best decision ever. Shout out to Gabrielle who did my hair. She was very easy to talk to, took care of my hair like it was hers and took time to understand the status of my hair for the best treatment it needs. She didn’t rush my treatments and it came out great! Will definitely come back and she’s the best ever! Highly recommended!!

Always had simple haircuts at home, so it was first for me at a salon. Gotta say the first-time experience was a great one! Salon was very nice and clean. Gabrielle was the one who cut and styled my hair. She was very professional and friendly as well. I went home super pleased with the results. I really recommend her if you ever go into Hair491.

I made a last minute dry cut appointment. I arrive at the time of the appointment and the woman that I booked the appointment with was not there. I was greeted by liz, not the woman I made an appointment with. This woman doesn’t do dry cuts. I told her what I wanted and she said she couldn’t do the dry cut. I was perplexed because I specifically booked a dry cut. I said it was fine because I had to get my hair cut by Wednesday for a funeral. A FUNERAL. Had the most amazing experience getting my haircut and styled at the salon! I was very frustrated with my hair so she listened to all my hair concerns and helped talk me off the ledge of an emotional chop and instead gave me a very cute cut with lots of shape and gave me tips on a better hair care routine! Salon was also very clean and safe. Definitely recommend.

I have been a customer of Hair 491 (and Alicia's) for over a decade. Natalie is my stylist. I have difficult hair - very thick, very wavy, very coarse. I keep it short. I never leaving feeling anything less than wonderful. My hair is shiny, soft and my color is perfect. The salon is a very pleasant place to spend time and the prices are reasonable.

I absolutely love and adore the staff at Hair 491! Not only does the salon offer the best hair cuts out there they are all so much fun to just be around and hang with that I actually wish I needed my hair done more often!

(This is my first YELP review ever): Similar to a few of the other situations, I was in a bind as I waited until the last minute to book a hair color/cut appointment (I've definitely learned my lesson). A friend had recommended a stylist at a different salon and the color turned out to be not what I had wanted. I got my haircut with Alicia the day after and explained to her the situation. Hair 491 is very much the hair salon for the melinnial stylish customer. They offer great color product for the hair and talanted hairstylists. Their selections of products to purchase are very good for all different styles of hair and types of hair being straight, curly or manageble hair.

Had the best hair experience of my life yesterday with Nick at Hair 491! I used to live near Montclair 2 yrs ago and first discovered this salon when Alicia was still in the previous location. I just needed a bang trim then so I enjoyed the visit. Once they moved to the new location I had started going there for occasional haircuts and had a fabulous balayage 2 yrs ago too. I once went to this salon regularly. Unfortunately the salon has a problem with employee drama. They always have an issue and cause issues to the point that myself and my friends did not feel comfortable returning.

I'm not one to usually write reviews, but without a doubt I could not let this experience go unrecognized. Since the age of 5 I have gone to the same hair stylist, so it was natural for me to book her for my highlights the week of my wedding. Third time to Hair491 today and they continue to be reliable. I got a haircut with Kim because I was told Katie was unavailable today. Turns out she was available so there must have been some sort of miscommunication. But Kim was great, she gave me exactly what I was looking for and checked to make sure the layers were at the length I wanted. Very happy to know that my hair can be trusted in multiple hands here.

Next, I wanted my few gray hair strands colored but not with permanent color. I do this often at multiple Salons and have never had a problem. I have very little gray strands and am only 38, so it's minimal coverage. She said she could only blend it and it would still be seen. This is false. I have been looking endlessly for a local salon that I can trust with my hair and finally found one. I had post pregnancy hair which was basically wild, thick, overgrown hair so I desperately needed a cut. I was paired with Kim L who listened closely to what kind of cut I was looking for. I also showed her a picture of what I wanted and she knew exactly what to do. She's very friendly and easy to talk to.
